- Selling 1m copies worldwide of their Columbia Records debut didn't stop New Yorkers Wheatus from being unceremoniously put through the Major Label meat grinder. Bloodied but unbowed, they formed Montauk Mantis Records and released their triumphant third album "Too Soon Monsoon" in Oct 2005.

Wheatus.com renovation... April Showers opens TOMORROW!
Hello interweb friends...
We write to you today as a friendly reminder that TOMORROW, April 24th, is the theatrical release date for April Showers. For those of you who don't know, April Showers is an independent film that was written and directed by Andrew Robinson, a survivor of the Columbine High School massacre that happened almost exactly 10 years ago. The film is based on his experiences there and what the aftermath of the shooting was like for the survivors. This film also happens to feature TWO Wheatus songs, both of which are brand new and one of which was written specifically for the film. It's a project we are truly honored to be a part of, and with or without us, this film is definitely worth seeing. It's opening in a very limited number of theaters, so please check with www.aprilshowersmovie.com to see if it's playing somewhere near you. If it isn't, fear not. As part of a new indie marketing strategy, the film will be available on iTunes for digital download starting May 5th. Pre-orders for DVD/Blu-Ray are also currently taking place, and those will start shipping soon as well. Currently there is no international shipping for DVD/Blu-Ray, but we're investigating a few options and will get back to you soon.
By the way, if you live in the NYC area, just about all of Wheatus will be attending the 7:35pm showing at The Pavillion Theater in Brooklyn. We'll get some drinks afterwards too. Come hang with us.
Both songs from this film will be a part of The Lightning EP, which we can now officially announce will be digitally dropping on June 1st of this year. The Lightning EP is Volume 1 of a much larger collection of songs, called Pop, Songs & Death. We're hoping to release these Volumes seasonally, and are already in pre-production for Volume 2, which should be available this winter. On June 1st, you will be able to download The Lightning EP from wheatus.com through a pay-what-you-like system in a variety of formats, including ultra high-resolution DSD audio playback for use with Sony PS3. If that sounds intimidating, don't worry, we'll also have it in MP3, Apple Lossless, WMA Lossless, and FLAC. Though people can choose to pay nothing for the songs, people who are willing to make a minimal donation will be able to receive a pair of bonus tracks, as well as other exclusive content. The Lightning EP will eventually be available through all major digital retailers, such as iTunes, Amazon, etc., but the bonus tracks will be exclusive to wheatus.com.
And speaking of wheatus.com, we have just had a MAJOR makeover there to prepare for all the new stuff that's going on. Take a gander and let us know what you think.
Finally, are you following us on Twitter yet??? http://twitter.com/wheatus is quickly becoming THE place to get the most up-to-date information on us. We post there every day, and we try to respond to any and all questions you may have for us. And if you're really lucky, maybe you'll be able to catch Brendan on there, drunk, tweeting as he watches There Will Be Blood. It's 158 minutes of primo entertainment, I assure you.
That's it for today. It was so nice getting to catch up with you all... let's do it again soon! It's a date.

New Wheatus music featured in upcoming film "April Showers"
Hey everyone...
So we've been pretty vague on this for a while, but it's finally time to come clean.
There is a movie coming out later this month called April Showers. It's based on the true story of the Columbine High School massacre that took place in Jefferson County, Colorado on April 20, 1999. This film was written and directed by Andrew Robinson, a former Columbine student and an actual survivor of the shooting. The trailer for the film can be seen here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDVmB...
We were contacted by Andrew and his producer Jenna Edwards some time ago, and they originally were asking permission to use Love Is A Mutt From Hell in one scene. We were flattered and though the project sounded terrific, so we started working on re-recording the song for them (to avoid involving Columbia Records). We kept in touch throughout the process, and at some point, Brendan sent Andrew a few of our new demos. Turns out he liked them even more, and instead of using Love Is A Mutt for that scene, they instead wound up taking a brand new song called "You And Your Stoopid Guitar." This was very exciting for us. And then it got even better.
The song they had planned on using for the dramatic closing sequence of the film wound up not working out, and we were asked if we could write a new, original song specifically for the scene. The end result is "Now," a song that Brendan and I put together by ourselves in a 2-day marathon recording session. We shipped it off, they approved, and now the film opens and closes with two brand new Wheatus songs. Amazing.
We couldn't be more proud of being a part of this project. All the people involved with the movie have been incredibly kind, and it's been a real privilege getting to work with them. Brendan and I are heading to Los Angeles in a few days to attend the premier of the film... we'll report back and let you know how it goes. The American release date is currently April 24th... just 4 days after the 10 year anniversary of the tragedy... and the list of theaters that will be showing the film is ever growing. Please go check in at http://www.aprilshowersmovie.com/ for tons more information.
The film will be available on DVD/Blu-Ray, as well as digitally through the iTunes store, for those of you unable to see it in theaters. There should also be information on a soundtrack for the film, which will contain the two aforementioned tracks AND Real Girl, coming very soon.
That's it for now, you guys... but there's plenty more news regarding Wheatus music AND movies featuring Wheatus music that is still forthcoming. Not to mention a complete overhaul of Wheatus.com. We're seriously working hard over here... and we're excited to absolutely bombard you guys with new stuff.

New video for Change The World (Black Precedent) feat. MC Lars
Hey all. We recently finished a super politically charged track with our good friend MC Lars. It's called Change The World (Black Precedent) and it's about Barack Obama and his run for the US Presidency. Yep. The rest is pretty well explained by the song. The video was directed by me (Matthew Milligan) and the song was written by Brendan Brown and MC Lars.
Check it out and spread it around. We need your help with this one. Do it!!!!
