Ahh the Quiet, the brushing of the trees, the whisper of the wind and in the distance the whirr of lonely cars gliding along the motorway to a destination unknown. It is the hour after the Riot Act, the lost hour between Saturday night and Sunday morning. Is it happiness, regret, embarassment, saddness or hope that you feel. God knows where you've woken up or how you're going to get home. Ahh yes the Quiet Act. Its early Sunday morning and i'm drunk but when I get home I'm going to listen to a record because it'll sound really good. I'll don the headphones and turn it up really loud and when I awake Sunday afternoon my ears will be ringing and my head will be pounding but it was fun while it lasted. Weird recently recorded their sixth studio album 'Quiet Act' up north in a quiet place. Out now, CD from the band and NOW ON itunes

      Hello all,

      We're writing new songs! We all went to practise last week and flung around some ideas some of which we are making into new tracks. Its going to take a while but a new album should be with us 2011, gotta give us time. The idea is to write lots of songs and pick the best to record. So a year of writing won't hurt us.

      2010 sees us reach our 15th birthday, and we're going to celebrate. All year we'll look back at the 6 albums we've recorded and we'll be playing some live shows, starting with The Happening Club at the Argyle February the 12th, more details will appear here.

      Firstly a huge thank you to everyone who appeared at our gig at Argylls happening club. It was a brilliant night and it felt so good to be playing live again. We will be there again within the next few months.

      The new venue is a cracking place to play, I myself really enjoyed digging out the old songs from Whapper and playing some tracks through all the albums through to Quiet Act, next year sees us hit 15 years since our first practise together so we're planning to have a royal knees up.

      We have 'Live at The Lodge' and 'Official Bootleg 2', alongside a re-release of 'Firkin Outburst' coming out in the next few weeks. Copies can be sought from the band.

      And finally our thoughts are turning to writing new songs for our 7th album.

      We'll keep you posted.

    • September 09 news

      Hey all its been a while! Firkin Outburst our 2nd lp that was never recorded back in 98 is now nearly ready. Its a mixture of recordings we did at the time, recordings from a couple of years ago and live tracks from the practise room. All the songs were written years ago but it was fun to go back and re visit them.

      Official bootleg 2 has been put to master and now a cover is to be made with comprehensive sleeve notes.

      We'll be gigging in November, bringing back songs from all our previous six albums and hopefully if God permits some new stuff. We did mention the difficult 7th album at practise we're going to take our time with this one. We'll write loads of songs and hopefully we'll get a few crackers to put on an album.

      We'll also update some of the MP3's on this site, there is a couple of tracks on the bootleg that might be of interest.

      The master is making its way to iTunes so it'll be on there soon. The CD is at the printers, one page (the credits) has been causing a problem so we're fixing that. We're all fine, getting holidays out the way then back to the practise room and hopefully a few gigs in the Autumn.
