Until a couple of years ago, Matilda was a simple country kid who lived on a farm and went to the local school. My, how times have changed…

When Matilda’s father, Jack, decided there was no future on the land, he sent his youngest daughter and her twin, Henry, to boarding school. Mattie and Henry would visit their family during school holidays in Summer Bay.

This became more of a permanent arrangement than just a holiday when their father died. Matilda soon settled down to life in Summer Bay, but there were all kind of learning curves for a girl that can be a bit of a 'drama queen' in her approach to life.

She loves music, movies and horse riding and has a weak spot for animals of every kind. When Matilda met Lucas Holden, the boy next door, Cupid fired his arrow and it was love at first sight. When Matilda's mother and Lucas' father fell in love, they decided to share the same house.

When Mattie and Lucas broke up, Mattie was heart-broken. As a result of this stress, issues with self-esteem plus having family members Kit and Robbie lost in the bush, Mattie developed bulimia, an eating disorder. Having overcome that, she is now trying to focus on friends, school and a new relationship.

Relationship status

Is enjoying a new, take-it-slow relationship with Ric.

Past relationships

Her first love was Lucas, but it appears it wasn’t meant to be.

Family

Tony has become a father to Matilda and her mum, Beth, is always there for her. Her siblings are Scott, Kit, Robbie and Henry is her twin brother. Lucas is practically a step-brother.

Friends

It looks like her friendship with Cassie is back on again and she is learning to like Belle. Mattie and Lucas are now friends and she gets along just fine with Drew.

Living arrangements

Mattie is under the same roof as Tony, Beth, Lucas and Jack.

Sixteen-year-old Belle Taylor arrived in Summer Bay on a mission: to find her birth mother.

Belle’s upbringing was over-disciplined and controlling. As she became older, her parents were dismayed to find their daughter rejecting their straight, conservative lifestyle and hanging out with the wrong crowd.

Although Belle is a cheeky, extroverted young girl, she is full of insecurity and craves the love and attention her parents never gave her. Belle thought that by finding her birth mother, she will at last find her proper place in the world.

When she arrived in Summer Bay, Belle lived in the bush for some weeks and was befriended by Ric, who brought her food. She was shocked to discover the true identity of her birth mother and was even more shocked when she finally accepted Amanda, only to discover she was sleeping with her boyfriend, Drew!

She goes to Summer Bay High.

Relationship status

Belle is flirting ALL THE TIME with Drew.

Past relationships

Drew once before, poor Lucas in between, but also Ric (twice).

Family

She ran away from her strict, over-the-top adopted parents. While Amanda may be her biological mother, Irene is probably the closest thing she’s had to a true Mum.

Friends

Belle has a bit of a temper, but appears to be getting along quite well with Mattie at the moment, as well as Lucas, Drew and Ric - you know, ‘the kids’.

Living arrangements

Lives in Irene’s house.
