- WAX formed in 1991 in Los Angeles, California.
WAX is well-known for the MTV "buzz clip" song and video "California," directed by Spike Jonze. The video depicted a man on fire calmly running in slow motion, and was quickly banned from daytime airplay on MTV.
WAX released their first album, What Else Can We Do on Caroline Records in 1992. WAX's surf-inflected punk rock was compared to the Ramones and Pixies.
In 1995, WAX issued its major-label debut, 13 Unlucky Numbers on Interscope Records.
Now, WAX is back at it - and amped to be playing together again.
