UBER : X-PRESS 2, JUSTIN MARTIN, UBER DJ COMPETITION
Uber, Saturday 25th February 2012 @ The Melting Pot
EARLY BIRD TICKETS on sale from Skiddle - www.iloveuber.com/tickets
Here we go then 2012 is here and we're ready to storm it!!!
Uber: The return of the DJ Competition
Uber kick-start 2012 with a rip roaring showcase that doffs a cap to the past as well as the future; with two of the clubs most celebrated former guests headlining alongside the return of the annual and highly feted DJ competition. The prize involves a set alongside Uber’s next headliner (James Zabielia, more about him next time) and the chance to be established as one of the called upon DJs for Carlisle’s longest running House music soiree. Entries have already been flooding in for what looks set to be another stunning smorgasbord of fresh djing talent.
Returning to headline this showcase are London House music heroes X-Press 2. Rocky and Diesel (and the now departed Ashley Beedle) have been responsible for some seismic impacts upon House music. Fully part of the warehouse scene of the late eighties, they exploded into the production world with the beyond seminal ‘Music X-Press’, a track that has been remixed more times than the trademark air-raid siren has sound-tracked a rave, with the original still able to take centre stage in any DJ’s set.
Their huge ‘Lazy’ record took deep house back to the top of the charts, whilst ‘Smoke Machine’ celebrated Amnesia’s dry ice cannon with deft ease. Their latest album ‘The House of X-Press 2’ sees a return to Skint, boasting guest contributions from Roland Clark, James Yuill and Amber Jolene, and is already celebrated as a sterling return from the duo. Their last appearance in Carlisle took the roof off and with this one scheduled to part of the global tour for the album, it’s set to be as equally rambunctious.
Support comes from San Fran’s jack master Justin Martin. Justin has flown the flag for Uber in both Carlisle and Liverpool previously, with his fidgeting dj sets gloriously wide-ranging across House music’s finest caveats. He’s still doing the do on Claude von Stroke’s inspired imprint Dirtybird and his signature is something of a mainstay in Uber’s sound. Expect jacking house, visceral techno and body popping grooves to sift through with the funk on constant overload.
Uber’s resident roster back things up, with Ki Creighton heading up the talent that includes one jock well aware of the benefits of DJ competitions; Jordan Grierson was selected by Minus to play for them through a similar contest that saw him lining up alongside Ritchie Hawtin.
If you would like to enter the competition please go to www.iloveuber.co.uk/competitions and follow the instructions. Good luck!!

UBER 5TH BIRTHDAY NOVEMBER 19TH 2011
Uber are proud to announce a storming line up to celebrate their 5th birthday after a massive year of dancing to the likes of Calvin Harris, Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Derrick Carter, Erol Alkan, Josh Wink, Mark Knight, Jaguar Skills, Yousef, Kissy and many many more - it seemed only right to see out 2011 with a massive bang!
To do this we have invited the darlings of the Electro Pop scene, Friendly Fires, whose live and DJ performances have set the benchmark for the last few years, alongside the hugely popular Riva Starr who’s done everything and worked with everyone you could imagine in 2011.
Also joining up will be our friends from Palooza who host the bar with Warehouse Project's very own Krysko and rising star Ginny Koppenhol. Bringing the support will be local heads We Take Polaroids and Uber residents Ki Creighton and Jay Wykes. Happy Birthday Uber and see you down the front.

30TH SEPT 2011 - Funktion & Uber Present: KISSY SELL OUT & MC COBRA
KISSY SELL OUT / MC COBRA
Plus: Lee Clarke // Jamie G // Andy B // Jordan G // Ki Creighton
@THE VENUE, DUMFRIES
Advanced Tickets: £12 (MOTD)
East London’s Kissy Sell Out emerged from the MySpace generation of cool nerds and sonic visionaries and is one of the hottest club DJs, producers and remixers around.
Since graduating from Central Saint Martin’s in graphic design, Kissy Sell Out is an underground sensation. Influences range from Sonic Youth, Scritti Politti and Swans to Aphrodite and Mickey Finn’s late 1990s drum'n'bass, dance producers such as DFA, Headman and early Daft Punk.
He played electric guitar since the age of 11 and began DJing at the age of 13 after turning from a Nirvana fan to a dance music fan overnight after hearing an acid house mix CD. Kissy soon started taking remixing and producing seriously. Following a short stint in a mainstream electro pop band, Kissy decided to go solo and explore new musical territories.
"When I made my first honest piece of music under the Kissy Sell Out guise, which I felt proud of, I suddenly realised that I had quite literally sold out in previous productions to try and appeal to a wider audience while repressing my urge to make something so much dirtier, and so Kissy Sell Out was born!"
Many late nights working saw his graphic design project/imprint San City High, Kissy Sell Out music and design projects moving from strength-to-strength. Like-minded artists from around the world signed up to San City High with Kissy being the sole driving force running the whole operation from his bedroom.0 Comments 37 weeks
