Me, Myself, and I
Hi, we're Trail - a 5 piece rock band from London. We spent 2008 raising money on fan investment site Slicethepie. With the help of our fans, hard work and a little luck we managed to attract the attention of multi-platinum record producer Matt Wallace, the man responsible for Faith No More's seminal albums (including "Angel Dust", the 'Most influential rock album of all time' – Kerrang) as well as Maroon 5's more recent hit "Songs About Jane".

So in November we packed up our instruments and headed out to LA to begin work on our debut album "To the Rest of the World".

After months of preparing our team and ourselves we're now about to release the first single from the album. It's called "Prism" and will go on sale via iTunes and Amazon on Sept 14th.

We gig all the time so if any of you happen to be Londoners please connect with us and come down to one. Special entry rates will apply to all our Bebo friends.

Enjoy the music!

  • Location, Location, Location

Last night we were location scouting for our music video. After initially considering the standard music video locations of roof tops, aircraft hangars and abandoned psychiatric wards, we decided to pick somewhere we'd actually enjoy spending the day. A new list was drawn up including McDonalds, the pub and Chessington World of Adventures.

After a serious debate about whether you can actually look cool whilst being hurled upside down on a roller coaster, (we tried this on a carousel in our Indigo2 video - you can judge for yourself) we decided that it would be best to focus on finding a decent pub that was also in close proximity to a Mcdonalds.

After wandering around the various haunts of London looking for this elusive combination, we suddenly realised that the perfect place was right under our noses. Used for in-depth discussion, gratuitous drinking sessions and the odd gig, 'The Miller' fitted our needs perfectly. It has the added bonus of being one of the coolest live venues new bands can play and we feel particularly close to it for giving us our first live break back in 2007. Like us its been evolving ever since.

All that's left now is to fine-tune the story with our director who is a big fan of Top Gun and Crimson Tide (made him an easy choice for Charlie) and get you wonderful people down to be in the live scenes for what is sure to be an action packed spectacle. Watch this space for more details...

  • The Man behind the Kit

In the same way that Stamp Magazine UK writes for its own readers, this blog will continue to try to be 'both informative and entertaining'. With this in mind, I will start my brief guide to our Belgian drum machine with a few facts about Minco's home country.

Over 800 kinds of beer are made in Belgium and Belgians consume on average 150 litres of beer per person per year (if this is already starting to sound like a tourist guide, it's because that's where I pinched the info from). They also make 220,000 tonnes of chocolate a year. Whilst I'm happy to give them credit for the beer and chocolate, they also claim to have invented chips which is clearly rubbish, as they are called 'French Fries'. Belgians also produce the greatest variety of bricks, have the world's deepest swimming pool and are the most avid users of discount coupons in the world (who/how/why the hell do people collect that sort of information?)

So what does that tell you about our drummer? I guess you would expect him to be a hard drinking chocoholic, with an elaborately designed house (complete with a scuba diving training pool in the garden) and a large collection of Pizza Express vouchers. It's early days, but having seen him drink Stella like its tap water, it's probably fair to say he fits the general description.

His love affair with cycling is already well documented so I won't spend too long on the subject, but I thought you should know that despite his best efforts, his recently stolen bike hasn't turned up. Walking through the parks of West London you may have seen posters on trees with pictures of his beloved bike (called Spokey) offering a reward for anyone who could find it; and at night you may have heard the distant cries of his owner calling out for his bike to return. "Spokey! Spokey! Where are You!?"

So that's Minco in a nutshell: he plays the drums, he drinks, he's Belgian and he used to cycle.

  • Back in the Saddle

Aside from being an Aerosmith song, 'Back in the Saddle' is a pretty good description of how this band feels right now. With the gig schedule filling up again, a shiny new album just around the corner and Simon making great progress at his anger management classes, the band looks set to ride off into the sunset in search of fame and fortune.

It seems like an age since we got back from Los Angeles but we've had plenty to keep busy with: Mixing, Mastering, Artwork, Re-training our bodies to eat non-fried food... All of this takes time and having only just gotten to the stage where we can go more than two days without a bacon double cheeseburger, we finally feel ready to get oursleves and the music out there.

In the preceeding months, whenever we've felt the urge to try and speed things up/cut corners, Eireann (our resident Motivational Speaker/Guru) would mutter the words "you can't rush art" - a quote taken from one of his favourite films ' Toy Story 2'. He also said that "anything half-baked is as good as sh*t" which i'm guessing isn't from the same film.

Has it been worth the wait? Come back to our myspace site later this week and all will be revealed....

    Alex

P.s. If you haven't heard the song Back in the Saddle, you can catch it on Aerosmiths 'Rocks' album, an episode of 'Extreme Ghostbusters' or as background music at Disney Worlds 'Extreme Rock n' Roller Coaster' (Whichever is easiest)
