The Whigs are a trio based out of Athens, Georgia. "Give 'Em All a Big Fat Lip" was the first recorded material to be released by the trio. The band signed to indie label ATO Records, home to artists such as Radiohead, My Morning Jacket and Ben Kweller,in 2006.
ATO Records released The Whigs new album, "Mission Control," on January 22, 2008. It was produced by Rob Schnapf (Beck, Elliot Smith, Guided By Voices) at Sunset Sound and Sound Factory in Los Angeles, CA.
The Whigs just competed a US tour with Tokyo Police Club, as well as a show supporting Kings Of Leon at their CD release at Webster Hall in New York. They begin a US tour with the Kooks on September 29th in Atlanta, Georgia. Immediately following the tour with the Kooks, the Whigs end their west coast run with a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! (October 29th).
The Whigs then haul ass to Minneapolis, Minnesota to join Kings of Leon on their album release tour across the states.
