I want to tell you a little bit about my experiences with attunements. I have received many different Reiki attunements, and I'd like to share my experiences with those. When I began my journey into discovering Reiki I tried everything.

I read Reiki books, watched Reiki videos, searched the internet for anything on Reiki, and listened to other people talk about their experiences with Reiki and knew within myself that THAT is what I wanted to do.

At first, I searched for any way possible to practice Reiki without spending money to have someone attune me. I knew the Reiki attunement was a key factor, so I searched for as many ways as possible to get that.

I went online and looked for any free Reiki attunements I could find. I found several, and experienced about 4 or 5 different attunements that way. I didn't feel anything at all.

Not to be discouraged, I tried finding any ways to attune myself that I could. I read many Reiki books, did what they said, and still, no change in my energy. The energy in my hands didn't feel any different. I didn't experience any sudden awareness.

So, I tried Reiki videos. That didn't work either. I had a friend of mine who was a massage therapist and had been attuned to Reiki several years ago, but hadn't practiced. She wanted someone to practice on, so I said sure. Once she put her hands on me, I KNEW that THAT was what I had been searching for. I could feel the energy coming from her hands. She had been attuned to Reiki at a weekend Reiki seminar or Reiki retreat, but knew someone else who was willing to do a Reiki attunement without any Reiki training. I knew the key factor was the Reiki attunement itself, and I could do the Reiki training on my own, so I said sure. I met with the lady, who was a gifted psychic. She gave me some insight and advice, then proceeded to do what I thought was an actual Reiki attunement. She stood very far from me and did something on both sides of me and in the front and back. She called it attuning the four corners. Again, I didn't feel any different, but not quite knowing what to expect, I figured I was finally attuned. I started practicing on myself and on friends. Still nothing different in my hands, my energy wasn't any different. It just didn't feel complete.

After all of that, I made a choice to seek out someone who was qualified to give Reiki attunements and that I resonated with to receive an actual Reiki attunement from. I found a Certified Reiki Master/Teacher in Vegas, which is where I was living at the time. I met with him for a Reiki Level I class. Immediately, we resonated. His energy was very calm, peaceful and open. There was something very different about this person, and the energy he had. It was about a 6 hour day going over material, Reiki history, personal experiences, etc. Then came time for the actual Reiki attunement. Immediately as he began, I could feel something very different from anything else I had ever experienced. When he was done, I could literally feel a significant change in the energy in my hands. My hands were extremely hot, not sweaty or clammy but very hot, almost like someone put a heating pad on my hands.

I KNEW this was it, this is what I had been searching for.

Then, we did some hands on practice. I could FEEL where people needed more energy. I could tell when an area was done. Sometimes, I would even get a knowing or an idea in my head as to what personal issues were creating such a need for energy. I continued my Reiki training with him all the way to Master/Teacher level. Each time was a more impressive experience. Each time, I noticed a significant change in my energy, and in the information I would receive from my clients.

So, as I was getting a reading from a friend, and discussing this reading with Heather, my partner in everything, especially healing and brainstorming... we began musing on a particular energy that was hanging around her.

The energy was that of a wounded little girl who desperately wanted attention. Both Heather and I were able to feel this energy, but what was strange was that Heather herself is not a wounded little girl. Yet, that energy was still attempting to find a way to manifest somehow.

So, Heather in an attempt to express this energy, since she doesn't relate to the wounded girl energy, found what was most related that energy to, which in this case was withholding of expression.

As we watched this whole energy play out, we came to the awareness that Empaths sometimes have a difficult time discerning between what energy is theirs and what is not.

This is made even more difficult if the energy wanting to be expressed relates closely to something that person is currently going through. The closer the relation, the more difficult it is to figure out what's what and what's who's energy. When it doesn't fit that person's baseline operations, the empathic expression that is not their own becomes more clear, and thereby easier to distinguish.

We're finding that once someone is aware of an energy that is not theirs, it becomes relatively easy to release that energy and let it go.

So, that's the ah ha of the moment.
