- New Zealand project The Electric Era is the artistic outlet for German-born songsmith Karsten Schwardt and offers song-oriented, alternative, Indie Pop Rock, twisted with a certain 'Germanic angularity', a dash of echoey New Zealand charme and a sprinkling of British Post-Punk melancholy. They claim to be under the influence of 80's Dunedin guitar jangle pop a la The Chills, The Verlaines and The Clean, blended with a few harder rock/new wave riffs and atmospheric synths. The noise component is restrained, so the soppy gut can stick out, allowing plenty of that belly button stuff to take place. Something like that.
