- You may remember the golden years of 2007 and 2008 when four young men from Blairgowrie almost took the world by storm and were pestered by Alphabeat for a photograph. Intense campaigning by loyal fans and lucrative offerings from promoters have forced The Benthams to consider a revival and the band have vowed to make a comeback in 2009. A recent statement from the band has confirmed: " Due to the current economic climate The Benthams are on an indefinite hiatus to help their loyal fans through the recession. We are also biding our time until this resurgence of 80's sounding music passes and are getting ready to pounce at the opportune moment to fill the gap in the market"
Their debut EP - 'Sunset Fire' can still be downloaded from itunes and emusic
Some nice critics have said of The Benthams:
"Melodic yet bursting with youthful vitality and enthusiasm that infectiously digs its nails in and refuses to let go, The Benthams will have you idiotically dancing along and singing out loud within seconds. The Benthams are a band you need to take to your heart now before everyone else discovers them and you get lost in the inevitable crush"
-Jodie Woodgate- http://www.roomthirteen.com/cgi-bin/...
"having a soft spot for Scottish bands, I went and had a listen and found all the things that I really like about Scottish Bands. “False Hope” with it’s Big Countryish guitars was the song that immediately caught my attention."

BARROWLANDS GIG - BUS LEAVING FROM BLAIR
Good day one and all
We hope you are enjoying our sunset fire EP purchased from itunes, and if you haven't bought it: go dae it!
We are starting to get organised for our gig at the Barrowlands on 27th june, so if you are in the Glasgow area, get in touch for a ticket and we'll arrange for Tom to get a ticket to you, as he is the only Bentham still residing in Glasgow over the summer.
If you are lucky enough to live in Blair, we are hoping to provide a bus to the gig. If you would like a ticket and a place on the bus can you please get in touch as soon as possible because we need to have a general idea of numbers so we know if there are going to be enough people to make it happen/ and give us an idea of what size of bus to book and cost etc. We will be paying for as much of the bus as we can with our cut from ticket sales (which isn't much) so the more tickets we sell the less the bus will cost so it would be great if lots of people could make it along, it would be good to see some new faces and also some old faces from school who maybe haven't seen us play yet! It's also Tuesday's 21st that night so come along and help him celebrate the achievement of being born and not dying for 21 whole years!
get in touch on this, drop us a comment or something, or alternatively get in touch with c roy on 07733234893
cheers ged
