"The End Is Begun Special Edition in stores Feb 19, 2008!"

3 is a band apart: Dark yet uplifting, spiritual without any connection to religion - theirs is a sound that transcends the genre conformity of modern pop culture. Rapid-fire acoustic guitar infused with dynamic percussion, animated drumming and thunderous bass culminate in a listening experience that is at once accessible and unique. Polyrhythms pulse within a symphony of driving metal guitars and melodic vocal acrobatics. 3 offers musicality without pretension.

The Woodstock, NY-based group began touring nationally in 2003 when they hit the road with Coheed and Cambria. They turned a lot of heads, winning audiences with their passion and unique brand of virtuosity. The buzz had begun, not just amongst music fans but within the industry as well.

Enter 2006, after the successful re-release of Wake Pig on Metal Blade Records, and the completion of their first world tour, 3 returned home to begin work on a new record. Drumming guru, Jerry Marotta (Peter Gabriel, Elvis Costello), offered up his legendary studio and drum collection, and so the boys set up shop and recorded their masterpiece: The End Is Begun.

In anticipation of their new record's 7-24-07 release, 3 hit the road with Porcupine Tree in Spring '07 touring all over the US and Canada to rave reviews. One can definitely expect to see great things from this band who has already received over 400,000 plays at MYSPACE.com, over 150,000 downloads at PUREVOLUME.com, and played with the likes of Scorpions, Coheed & Cambria, Porcupine Tree, 36 Crazyfists, Chiodos, Atreyu, Kiss Kiss, Underoath, Boys Night Out, Bad Brains, The Bronx, Straylight Run, Vendetta Red, and Your Enemies Friends, and many more...

  • Progressive Nation 2008 Wrap-Up

Hey everyone, Gartdrumm again. It’s the end of Prog Nation 2008 as we know it and we were just getting warmed up! What a tour folks, what a tour! From the first note of opening night in L.A. to the final bow of the tour, rock was in good hands at Prog Nation and will live in the great minds of music lovers and concert goers for a lifetime. Thanx to you the fans for your overwhelming enthusiasm and your into-it-ness; you are half the equation. Thanx to all four bands for being so damn cool (again, great bill Mike)! The music of these bands speaks for itself and behind the scenes we all got along famously. Its great when you actually like the people your on tour with; what a stand up bunch, bands and crew members alike- you all made it happen! Thank you Mike Portnoy and all of Dream Theater. You guys are a class act and consummate pro’s as well world class musicians. I’ll try not to bite too much of your stuff but I can already feel the bars of 5, 7, and 9 creeping into my mind! This tour was definitely full of good times and music, from uncle Mike visiting us in our dressing room before showtime just to listen to Joey Eppard's unique vocal warmup to the very last night of tour when I sat down at my kit for the final performance only to find a full bottle of baby powder dumped on my snare drum; probably the most explosive intro of my career…when the dust settled and I could see the snare drum head again I could see the words…”thanx for a great tour, Mike Portnoy”….no thank you and I hope Prog Nation 09’ is as big a success!! See you all soon…Chris Gartdrumm Gartmann

We're back at home spending time with our families and making more music than ever! Just this Sunday we all performed in at The Basement in Kingston, NY in the form of Dent [Joe Stote on guitar and vox and Gartdrumm with Max contributing vox and dance moves for a few songs] and The Eppard Brothers [Joey Eppard, Josh Eppard, Billy Riker with Daniel Grimsland playing bass on a few songs, Dave Daw of Darkworld Studio filling in on bass for the rest of the set plus -- 3's original bassist, Chris John Bittner, joined in for a few classics and Jimmy Eppard graced the stage for the full Eppard Brothers set!!!]. Thanks to Uncle John the Baker for making this show happen, inviting us to play, and still performing a high energy set with Instant Asshole, even after a brutal skateboarding accident (best wishes Uncle John!). We can't wait to do it again!

  • "3" on tour NOW! Gartdrumm News! Rokk Sponsorship!

Hello friends! Tonight we're headlining the first show on our 2008 Spring Tour of the US and Canada. We will also be headlining tomorrow in St. Louis, Friday in Lawrence Kansas and on Saturday in Denton Texas. Sunday is our first show with Between the Buried and Me at Meridian in Houston, Texas. Friday, May 2nd will be our first show on the Progressive Nation tour with Dream Theater, Opeth and Between the Buried and Me in LA. Look out for scattered dates in Portland, Spokane, Pittsburgh, Montreal, Toronto and Myrtle Beach with Opeth. We will also be adding a few headlining dates on our way home at the conclusion of the Progressive Nation tour, so check back for those.

If you can't make it out to any of the shows, you can still buy merch online at our official store. We dropped prices on clothing to make room for new designs. White T-Shirts $5. Others for $10 and $15. We also have a limited number of the "Consume" hoodies up for sale. The design is a bit rare and quite nice and commemorates the band's first music video, "Alien Angel" (a play on John Carpenter's film They Live). The mask on the back of the hoodie was created by Joey Eppard a number of years ago and the over-all design was done by the beautiful and talented Melissa Eppard. Make sure to grab one before they're all gone! We also restocked Half Life which sold out several months ago. Don't forget to check out the exclusive signed Trueline Gartsticks while you're there!
