What is a LAN Party?

A LAN Party is a fun gathering where everyone brings their computers to a place, connect them together in a network, and game against each other for 24+ hours.


Where is TeraLAN held?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

At Advanced Training Academy in Garden Place, Hamilton (see the photos for a map).


When is TeraLAN?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

TeraLAN is held at least 4 times a year. Check the top of the site next to Evil-Pacman to see when the next one will be. The date for the next TeraLAN is chosen and posted the Monday after the LAN, so you'll usually get a month or so notice. TeraLAN starts at 12pm Saturday and runs until 3pm Sunday.


What Does It Cost?

What About Food?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We provide pizza, coke and hot chips for tea and there is Tea, Coffee etc there (all covered by your entry fee).

If you want snacks, we're right in the centre of town and there are food places everywhere.

Here's just a few:

On the bottom floor of ATA: Custom made Pizza's and Subs from Select-a-sub, Urge Coffee
2mins walk: McDonalds, Indian, Sushi, Hot Roasts, Bakeries
3mins walk: Subway, Flambe, Kebabs, Ronnies, Nandos
4mins walk: Buger King, Bakehouse Cafe, Keno Sushi (The Best), Burger Fuel

The closest supermarket is Foodtown (6mins walk) and the Warehouse is only 3-4mins walk away for stocking up on snacks, cheap drinks etc.


Is There Gigabit?

Sure is, all our switches are gigabit. Make sure your cable is CAT5E or better.


What About Parking?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

There's loading zones you can use to drop of your gear (see the photos for a map showing these).

For parking we recommend Knox Street car park building. It's just a couple of blocks away, and only costs $7.50 for the whole 28 hours the lan runs. They take cash, eftpos and credit cards.

We strongly discourage parking behind the building since cars have been broken into and others have been clamped during previous lans.

Rules

By attending the LAN you accept the rules, and full responsibility for your equipment.

-No drugs, alcohol or people affected by them will be admitted
-No objects or people are to be put out the windows
-No playing in the lift - if you break it there's a $500 callout fee which *you* will pay (seriously 500 frekn dollars - don't be a douche)
-Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated
-Report ALL issues to an Admin
-Respect property and equipment
-Use common sense, we’re here to have fun ;0)
-No raging noobs

Get permission to attend from your parents first. However if you suspect they will say no find a suitable excuse such as a camp, staying at a friends place or mass suicide with a cult, don't think about explaining what a LAN is or asking them to come with you to meet the admins and check it out. Straight out lying is your best shot. And what ever you do don't let them see this
