Formed in May 2005 The Beat Poets have had an exceptional rise in the unsigned music scene world wide. With radio play from K-Rock in America to Triple J in Australia the band have been Rising Artist on Tom Dunne's Pet Sounds (Today FM)and won Virgin Radio Xtreme and X-FM unsigned awards in the UK. Having supported acts such as The Chemical Brothers, Sonic Youth and Nine Black Alps the band have gained celebrity fans such as Kiefer Sutherland and now endorsement deals with GIO GOI and Hi Watt. Having released their debut double A side single via Manchester based Pronoia Records at Christmas 2006 the band has went on to play Canadian Music Week in March 2007 with Paolo Nutini and Public Enemy landing a major MTV deal in America and recently recorded in Stir Studios (Wales) with Manic Street Preachers and Lost Prophets producer Greg Haver. The band have announced their debut Album due out in October 2008 with two singles this summer!

The Beat Poets have secured a licensing deal with the MTVN company in the US. Over the next 12 months the current poets tracks will be used on MTV, VH1 shows etc with band links from the MTV website in the US. The bands songs will be in use from July 2008. The poets are also test running the new MTV soundtrack scheme with MTV in the states which hopes to create a new social interface for artists to showcase their music to MTV viewers.
Next Gig – The Square Peg, Warrenpoint– July 5th
To kick of the new poets campaign the band will be doing their new show in The Square Peg on July 5th, expect to hear for the first time some of the new tunes of the debut album!!

Live Poets Gig Broadcast
For the first time ever The Beat Poets will be broadcasting one of their shows live on line. The gig will be broadcast from the renown ‘Spirit Store’ in Dundalk, Co.Louth Ireland on July 18th from 10:30pm in conjunction with Live Web Stars (www.livewebstars.com)
For those attending doors open at 9pm, admission is 10 euros. Support acts to be announced.
London Calling 2008
Limited edition white label copies of The Beat Poets single ‘Staring Stars Down/G.I’ will be available at the Music From Ireland stall at the London Calling event in Earls Court on the 19th and 20th of June.
After 3 years since forming in the summer of 2005 The Beat Poets can finally announce they will be releasing their debut Album. The first release from the Album will come at the end of the summer in the form of a double A-sided single ‘Staring Stars Down/ G.I (Generation Innocence). These highly acclaimed tracks which have won several awards including Virgin Radio Xtreme unsigned, Xfm Unsigned and Today Fm Rising Artist Award have never been released!!
The new and improved versions will be accompanied by new exclusive videos, live sessions, shows, podcasts, websites and much much more!!
Since November 2007 the band has been creating their own Indie label set up with fantastic experienced teams in N.Ireland, London and Toronto and will be officially launching the label with the debut singles.
In keeping with the poets renowned hard working Indie ethos the label and band will endeavour to support other indie artists especially home grown talent by running weekly shows in The Square Peg, Warrenpoint (27 Club) and putting out compilation CD’s which will be distributed at events such as CMW, London Calling, Midem, CMJ etc.

To mark the new poets beginning the band will kick off with a headline show in their home Town of Warrenpoint.
At present the band aims to stream the show live on line for the night…further details to follow.
All Irish poets fans are set for a treat as the band is planning a series of shows across the country over the summer months in some of our best loved venues. The first date kicks off in May 31st in the Nerve Centre, Derry. The band plans on bringing some great breaking Irish bands onto each of the bills to give memorable shows in each region. Oh Good Stuff - i'l either have to try and stay up or get up early for that. All good down under even if the mild winter has begun. Have been spreading the word - you have some new fans in Oz.
