It was just after dark when the truck started down
the hill that leads into Scranton Pennsylvania.
Carrying thirty thousand pounds of bananas.
Carrying thirty thousand pounds (hit it Big John) of bananas.
He was a young driver,
just out on his second job.
And he was carrying the next day's pasty fruits
for everyone in that coal-scarred city
where children play without despair
in backyard slag-piles and folks manage to eat each day
about thirty thousand pounds of bananas.
Yes, just about thirty thousand pounds (scream it again, John) .
He passed a sign that he should have seen,
saying "shift to low gear, a fifty dollar fine my friend."
He was thinking perhaps about the warm-breathed woman
who was waiting at the journey's end.
He started down the two mile drop,
the curving road that wound from the top of the hill.
He was pushing on through the shortening miles that ran down to the depot.
Just a few more miles to go,
then he'd go home and have her ease his long, cramped day away.
and the smell of thirty thousand pounds of bananas.
Yes the smell of thirty thousand pounds of bananas.
He was picking speed as the city spread its twinkling lights below him.
But he paid no heed as the shivering thoughts of the nights
delights went through him.
His foot nudged the brakes to slow him down.
But the pedal floored easy without a sound.
He said "Christ!"
It was funny how he had named the only man who could save him now.
He was trapped inside a dead-end hellslide,
riding on his fear-hunched back
was every one of those yellow green
I'm telling you thirty thousand pounds of bananas.
Yes, there were thirty thousand pounds of bananas.
He barely made the sweeping curve that led into the steepest grade.
And he missed the thankful passing bus at ninety miles an hour.
And he said "God, make it a dream!"
as he rode his last ride down.
And he said "God, make it a dream!"
as he rode his last ride down.
And he sideswiped nineteen neat parked cars,
clipped off thirteen telephone poles,
hit two houses, bruised eight trees,
and Blue-Crossed seven people.
it was then he lost his head,
not to mention an arm or two before he stopped.
And he slid for four hundred yards
along the hill that leads into Scranton, Pennsylvania.
All those thirty thousand pounds of bananas.
You know the man who told me about it on the bus,
as it went up the hill out of Scranton, Pennsylvania,
he shrugged his shoulders, he shook his head,
and he said (and this is exactly what he said)
"Boy that sure must've been something.
Just imagine thirty thousand pounds of bananas.
Yes, there were thirty thousand pounds of mashed bananas.
Of bananas. Just bananas. Thirty thousand pounds.
of Bananas. not no driver now. Just bananas!"
From Greatest Stories Live: Ending #1
Yes, we have no bananas,
We have no bananas today
(Spoken: And if that wasn't enough)
Yes, we have no bananas,
Bananas in Scranton, P A
From Greatest Stories Live: Ending #2:
A woman walks into her room where her child lies sleeping,
and when she sees his eyes are closed,
she sits there, silently weeping,
and though she lives in Scranton, Pennsylvania
She never ever eats ... Bananas
Not one of thirty thousand pounds .... of bananas

Accept me
I am I
Do not change me,
condemn me, nor put me down,
Accept me for what I am.
No...you need not agree with me
But accept me.
For I am total in being.
I have my faults, I have my guilts
But this is who I am.
Perfect I will never be.
Allow me to be unhibited.
Do not pressure me into feeling
What I do not feel.
Accept me when I'm flying high
As I have accepted you
when you were flying high.
Do not put me down...
Nor make me feel unhappy about me.
I am I
And I like being what I am.

Heyy! Whatcha doin??? I have been okay. We have got some visitors from west TN (my cousins). They spent the night last night! WE HAD A LOT OF FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so sorry to hear this. To be present ... to listen, to touch, to accept, to apologize and to forgive .These are all invaluable gifts to one who is dying and probably to oneself as well. I have been through this and I know the pain and confusion you are going through. Please be sure to take care of yourself as well. Rest whenever you can and drink lots of water. Lots of hugs coming to you.
Hi janey hope ur having a nice weekend x
GM Janey. I'm so sorry to hear about your mom taking a turn for the worse. Take care of yourself and try to enjoy the holiday. xx

Happy 4th, I see you're up early today. I didn't sleep so great and kept waking up, thinking of how you were doing. I know from personal experience and really understand how much better it will be to have your sister home. I was always the same way with Chuck..felt better to not be the only one with all decisions. It will really do you good to get home for awhile and relax but know your mind won't really rest.
Pat always 'says' he done well with the cats, BUT..me and the kids know the truth.
On the good side, you'll have two neglected children waiting for you.
All's quiet here for the minute but will have 3 girls awake soon and hungry. Talk later, Babe. Love you.
ps. I read post on other page last night..prob why you were on my mind thru the night. ♥
Hi Janey. I am on the confused boat right along with you.
I hope you are doing something on Sat for the holiday. You NEED a mental health break if just for a few hours. I know what you're going through. Take care of yourself and TTYS xxx
I'm so sorry there's no improvement. I agree with you about the doses.
Try to find time to relax and enjo the holiday, ok? Thinking of you. ♥♥♥
Happy Fourth of July! I'm off today, so I'll TTYL! I hope everything is going well at home. xoxo
I don't know if we can blame your sister's computer today. I'm having trouble getting around in Bebo and Lyn wrote that it was acting up for her. Hope you can get back on. Pat's up now so the day begins..way too early. TTYL, Love ya OH. Happy 4th of July!
Shabbat Shalom Sweets, I hope you had a better night and your mom rested and felt better. Can't believe it's the day before the 4th! It seems like this summer is zooming by! It's 7 years today since my Dad passed. Still hard and seems off that I still have trouble writing the words, "Dad died" and still choose to use passed. Anyhow, it's going to be busy. We'll have Courtney, Samantha and Shelby here for the afternoon and sleep over. Tomorrow is their little sisters 2nd birthday party so we'll be on the go for the next couple of days. Pat works next week, thankfully, because he's only one of a handful. Off the rest of July and then back 1/2 time again like now in August. I'm already looking for things around here for him to do. LOL!
Well, my lil darlin, going to get more coffee in me. By choice, I'd be in bed, sleeping if it weren't for Luscious Licks Lillie getting me up about an hour ago. LOL! Have a good'un! TTYL ♥♥
Hi janey
thinking of you ? hoping your okay ...
Im freezing here today, yukky weather
again .... ttys sweets xXx
Have a great 4th
A couple months before my Dad passed, he sent me to Ireland..literally..to find his (our) family. We'd made some breakthroughs and figured out the town where the family was. One of his bucket list items was to go back to Ireland and meet our family there. Well, he didn't get to Ireland but he did love the movies I took. I can't tell you how many times I called home, near hysterics because I wasn't here to find out what was happening, so I kind of know how she feels. It's not the same at all when your mind wants to be somewhere else.
Well, mowing the lawn in on the agenda for Pat today..but not too quickly as he's still on his computer. LOL! Going to zip and change out laundry loads. Talk later..♥♥
Hey Janey! It's beautiful here too! I know things are so rough for you right now, and glad your sister is coming home to help again. She's right, Paris will always be there. She's a keeper! Hope that you all enjoy this 4th of July weekend together and stay close.
I have tomorrow off too. Saturday we are going to a park for a festival, the grandkids will be going and they have free face painting, pony rides, games, alot of stuff for the little ones. Should be alot of fun.
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Hope Bob comes too, so you are all together. xoxoxo
I hope Bob does come down so you can at least have a bbq. I bet Marmy and Denim miss you and can't wait for you to come home. I'm hoping July goes fast too.
Your poor Mom. I wonder if the pain medicine is making her sick. Mom used to get sick. Josh gave her something to take with her meds so she didn't get that feeling. At least the pain is eased so that's good news. I hope she does better today.
JG
It still cracks me up!
I'm surprised your sister is coming home early. I feel bad for them that their trip ended up coming at such a bad time. I know she isn't having fun when all she does is think about whats going on at home. Time in Paris can be replaced..but time like now can't so I think it's good for all concerned.
Well, I hear Pat stirring..my quiet time is about to end..Lillie is going nuts at the door..so Sweet Petite, talk to you later..Love ya, ♥♥
Good Morning OH, What the heck do you do to the 'bosses'?
I bet this could be a record number, eh? ROFL! Well, you'll be on a lighter work load for awhile..when do the interviews begin? LOL! I bet it's a long process, isn't it..I'm trying to think of anything that's not a long process when dealing with the gov. LOL!
Just passing through, great page. Have a good day.
Love Yvonne xxx
GM Janey. Glad to hear Bebo is finally working at your sisters house. Are you doing anything for the 4th or are you "on duty"? I have off tomorrow finally, it's my last day off until my week in August.
TTYS x
