Susan Scully <susanscullymusic> "shortlisted for vodafone's Bright New Sounds competition" | |||||
![]() | Susan Scully started out as a keyboard player (who was a little afraid of microphones and the sound of her voice) growing up in Tallaght in Dublin, before dropping by UCD to get a degree in maths and an understanding that she would never make it as a crazy mathematician. After this revelation she began doing the rounds of singer/songwriter nights with her little songs and her not so little piano (the only way to overcome the aforementioned fear of mics), and eventually Susan studied jazz and voice in Newpark Music Centre. Here she discovered some of the notes that had been missing from her songwriting all along, met with some great musicians and had her first taste of a minneola (a type of little orange). There was a brief return to the world of maths in the form of lecturing some business students, before escaping to Roscommon to write some more little songs. Remembering the tasty citrus from her days in Newpark, Susan chose Minneola as the name for the project of recording her first EP Susan Scully says: "Last chance to download "Walk With Me" for free.
