Suicide Prevention Information New Zealand (SPINZ) is a national service of the Mental Health Foundation that uses workshops, seminars, printed resources and a website to disseminate best practice information to individuals, communities and services about suicide prevention.

SPINZ does not provide counselling or crisis intervention. If you need crisis support call:

    If you or someone you know is experiencing depression, The Lowdown is a good place to be http://www.thelowdown.co.nz. Here you’ll find information on depression, and advice on dealing with it. You can hear from musicians, celebs and everyday people sharing their own personal experiences with depression. If you have any questions or you want to talk to someone about how you’re feeling, you can text or email The Lowdown team in the Chat section. Or you can just chill and listen to some great kiwi music from artists featured on the site.

    The Lowdown is part of a national public health campaign (the National Depression Initiative) and has been created to reduce the impact of depression on the lives of New Zealanders, as well as being a component of the New Zealand Government’s approach to suicide prevention.

    The Lowdown aims to help young people recognise and understand depression. This site encourages and enables them to seek appropriate help, or puts them in touch with trained professionals. Through encouraging early treatment of depression the National Depression Initiative intends to reduce the impact depression has on the lives of young New Zealanders, now and throughout their adult lives.

    Hey everyone at SPINZ!

    DATA is a group much like this & it is a youth branch stemed from the Foundation in Northern Ireland called the Niamh Louise Foundation. There is more information about both on the bebo page.

    This group will hopefully help & inspire anyone that joins it & all the mods would love to do anything they can to help or answer any questions that you have.

    I hope that someone can take a few minutes to check it out.

    Whatever the problem, and i know how hard life can be, suicide isn't the answer. I have been left behind by two people in my life who have choosen suicide and taken theyre own life and it is amongst the hardest thing to live with. Ive been depressed i know life can be too hard and painful, but leaving us causes us pain.
