Special's vision is to help autistic children and young people in local communities, to assist their families in providing the tools and skills required to give each child the best start in life. We believe autistic children are all unique, with their own fascinating personalities and skills. We want each familiy to be able to treat their children in the course or programe they feel is the best. We want to be able to give parents the resources and confidence to the best with their child and enjoy the time with them. Special also believe in the importance of all the Autistic charities in Scotland and the UK and believe that they all offer services that we want to support.

  • Masquerade Celidh Success!

    Special's Masquerade Ceilidh was a huge success, rasing just under £1400.00 for the charity which has already been allocated to new families looking for help. Everyone who attended and donated prizes cannot be thanked enough and we look forward to seeing you all again at the next event!

  • Masquerade Ceilidh

    Apex International Hotel, Edinburgh
    8th November 2008, 7pm – 1am

    Arrive in the Gallery Bar and enjoy a complimentary glass of sparkling wine followed by a delicious 3 course meal. Afterwards, let you hair down and dance with music from the young, dynamic and modern band Celtic Rouge. Sample their music here!

    Fantastic raffel prizes will be available on the night!

    Tickes are £25.00 per person and include a 3 course meal and arrival drink. Tables on the nights can seat 12 and will operate on a free seating policy. Alternatively you can reserve a table of 12 and recieve a 10% discount!

    Special Scotland is celebrating it's first birthday! In June, we will be holding another of our legendary Ceilidhs to celebrate the achievements in our first year and to look forward to the next. The Ceilidh will be returing to Broxburn, where we launched in April of 2008.

    Why Are We Celebrating?

    > We have donated almost £3000.00 in grants, equipment & training to families throughout Scotland, including Glasgow, West Lothian & Edinburgh

    > We launched our free Online Library encompassing 27 books which
    parents can loan for free.

    > We have held Parent Support Afternoons in Edinburgh & West Lothian.

    > We participated in Pedal for Scotland, held two Ceilidhs and several Bag Packing sessions in Broxburn & Linlithgow

    Who's the Band?
    Music on the night will be supplied by 'Celtic Rouge,' a band that have attended all of Special's Ceilidhs and
    always provide an exhilarating night!

    - A delicious 2 course buffet

    - An opportunity to get more information about the charity

    To ensure that all funding applications are treated equally and timely, a new timescale has been produced for 2009. Applications will be accepted quarterly with decisions taken 2 weeks after the deadline. Please see below the new timescales:
