Sophie had her first ever gig at The Dublin Castle in Camden. She went on to front Sophie Garner and her Swing Kings, a nine piece rhythm and blues jump jive outfit and became the leading female singer on the scene European scene. She released two recordings in that time 'Gone Bananas' and 'On Revival Day'. In 1998 Sophie was awarded the Perrier Jazz vocalist finalist of the year.
