The Czech Inn, 19/07/08
The low-down:
Smokestack's debut in this East European-tinged bar was a pleasant experience, with a helpful soundman, a friendly crowd, and drinks on the house. Each set built momentum confidently and the punters demanded and got a good-natured encore.

Blues With A Feeling
Help Me
Dirt Cheap Blues
On The Road
The Big Fat
Highway Chile
Sugar Sweet
Prison Break Song
Smokestack Lightning

The Bleu Note 17/07/08
The low-down:
This sparsely-attended outing in the Bleu Note was something of a challenge: technical issues with the PA system meant Smokestack Lightning hit the stage late, playing a somewhat haphazard setlist through a bass amp rather than the house speaker system! However the band rose to the occasion, delivering some real moments around the end of the first set - a fast but relaxed take of Route 66 was the highlight.

Blues With A Feeling

JJ Smyth's 06/05/08
The low-down:
Smokestack Lightning kept things smooth and easy for this outing. What with a Bank Holiday weekend gone by and exam pressure impinging on a significant number of fans, the crowd was small - but the band had them cheering for the last trio of classic tracks.

Setlist:
Smokestack Lightning
Sugar Sweet
Sunday Night
Lovin' With A Feelin'
Jackson
I Ain't Got You
Dirt Cheap Blues
Story Of My Life
Route 66
Mojo In A Bag

Drinkin' Wine
Help Me
Cold Dinner Blues
I'll Be Seeing You

This better be funky... cos if it's not... well, I dunno really. I couldn't imagine it not being funky so I never came up with a threat.

That kinda deflated that rant. Eh, yeah, see y'all later then. :D

You're apparently playing two gigs on the one night - the third of August, both at nine o'clock.

Ambitious.
