Sixpeopleaway is the musical project of Alistair Merrick (vocals/guitar) and close friend and long time musical collaborator Robert Hitchen (bass/backing vocals).
Together they produce angular guitar and vocal-led songs with laptop-generated beats and sounds.
Alistair and Robert are currently working on new material, having just released their second EP: intermittent Fault, on the 29th of February 2008. The debut CD ‘sixpeopleaway’, was released on the 30th of July 2007 having already been awarded Single Of The Fortnight in The List and Single Of The Week by Jim Gellatly on his X-Posure show. Both releases are available online, as a download via iTunes and other digital services, as well as at gigs and through their online music store: www.sixpeopleaway.co.uk/SPAstore.html

Well, I think we have just about calmed down from our most highly enjoyable week of musical fun!
The BBC session was an absolute blast and whilst we were bricking it ever so slightly right before it started, everyone made us feel tremendously welcome and we ended up just having tonnes of fun playing songs and talking pish.
You can listen to the whole show here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/vicgallo... (and I would recommend that you do as it was a great show with many awesome bands getting a spin), but if you simply want to hear our bit you can head here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/player... to listen to an edited version in the session archive which is just the bits from the show what have us in them.
We played four songs and had a bit of a chat with Mr Galloway, so if you want to know how we met, where the bands name came from, and why on earth we ended up talking about a multi-headed, many-limbed 50's horror monster (not our fault as it turns out), oh, as well as hearing a brand new song, then head on over to either of the links above. The full tracklisting of songs we played was:
1) Small Fortune
2) Of Kings
3) Eve (New Song)
4) Next Time Round
You can also download Vic's Introducing Podcast here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/music/..., as he very kindly stuck our live session version of "Small Fortune" on it.
For any of you all that may be interested, we shall be playing live on Vic Galloway's show on BBC Radio One Scotland tomorrow night (Wednesday the 14th) from 12-2AM.
If that is too far past your bedtime or you are from outside Scotland fret not as you can listen to it again for a full week from the date of broadcast here:
(Ok, enough of the cryptic "maybes" in an attempt to seem interesting and faintly mysterious, we have a new song we want to play and assuming it goes well at practice tonight and we don't think we are going to tit-it-up proper on national radio and make total arses of ourselves, we shall be playing it! I say this here because this pretty much means we have to play it now unless we want to look like big wimps...)
We have new songs for playing at our upcoming shows too, so if you toddle along to our next one (Pivo Pivo, Glasgow, This Thursday, 8PM, £4 entry) you shall be treated to hearing them before anyone else EVER!
You shall also be treated to the most excellent Over The Wall (who we enjoyed playing with immensely last year and shall surely please your ears) and Suspire (who we have not played with before but we are sure are jolly nice folks worthy of your attention).
Our next release shall be the Intermittent Fault EP, available to download and purchase from the 29th of February.
The full tracklisting is:
1) Small Fortune
2) Dig In
3) Of Kings
4) 20:20
5) Nightlight
It shall be available from iTunes and all such digital folk as a download, and a limited run of CDs shall be available from selected independent record stores, at gigs (check back soon for new dates) and via our very own WEBSTORE. (which you can find at www.sixpeopleaway.co.uk).
Shall stick up some tracks from the new EP here soon. In the meantime visit:
