I stumble into the darkness
Waiting for your hand to pick me up
Yet my hands just scrape at the cold walls
They are swollen, dirty, they are black
Once soft plump skin
Now torn to the limbs and bleeds from the wounds
These are not my hands, they cannot be my hands

I reach into the darkness
Waiting for your hand to clutch my arm
Yet my arms lay at my sides
They are broken, blue, they feel invisible
Once long and slender
Now twisted prone to there position
These are not my arms, they cannot be my arms

I fall into the darkness
Waiting for the strength of your legs to help me stand
Yet I can’t feel my legs, can’t feel my feet
They are squashed, unmoveable they have no motion
Once I was able to stand
Now they don’t look part of me
These are not my legs, they cannot be my legs

I gaze into the darkness and see you grin
A grin so disturbing, so powerful
The grin of a solider that has victory
I did not love this grin, I once loved a man who wears it
A man with hands to pick me up
A man with hands to clutch my arm
A man with legs to help me stand
This was not a man, it is the grin of darkness
