| There are 150 nuclear bombs at Faslane only 30 miles from Glasgow. Gordon Brown wants to build more, and he wants to keep them in Scotland for the next 50 years.
Scottish Youth CND is working to make Scotland free from nuclear bombs and nuclear power stations. We are part of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND).
On 14 June 2007 the Scottish Parliament voted to oppose Gordon Brown’s plan for new nuclear weapons. But the Parliament in Edinburgh does not have the power to stop this. | Gender | Age | | | Male | 21 | | | Last Active | Profile Views | | 2 weeks | 710 times | | | Share the Luv | | | 6 |

A celebration of 50 years of Scottish CND songs. Pleasance Cabaret Bar, Edinburgh. Hosted by Ewan McVicar, with Nancy Nicolson, Karine Polwart, Ian Walker, Alistair Hulett, Margaret Bennet, Protest in Harmony, Alison HcMorland, Geordie McIntyre, David Ferrard and more. Also the launch of a songbook that tells the anti-nuclear story through song
Frontman Tim Booth sings on “Hey Ma”, the new James album, “war is just about business”. The replacement cost of Trident of over £100 billion makes this all too clear. Andy Diagram, trumpet player, says ‘We’re very happy to be celebrating Scottish CND’s 50th birthday and contributing to the public debate on Trident.’ | | | Meetings | | Edinburgh CND meeting

matt sorry but i don't agree with you
:p
nuclear power's legacy--- radioactive nuclear waste lasts for thousands and thousands of years
the sites of nuclear power stations need decomissioning, a costly process in time and money
look into chernobyl
Scotland is part of an island surrounded by water--- tide power opportunities. the technologies exist but oil companies continue to hold our governments at ransom.
maggie thatcher and her henchmen rubbished the results of tests on ''nodding duck'' wave turbines in the 70s, and nuclear power was portrayed as the way ahead.
im all for stopping nuclear wepons being built,
but im afraid that nuclear power is the way foreward, even if it is only for a while. at the moment the only other decent energy source is oil and fossil fuels.
Peace.

Thanks
Nuclear Power? No Thanks! American Imperialism being forced upon the world by NATO? No Thanks! Co-orporate capitalism allowing multi-billionaires to live in a spiral of wealth while half the world lives in abject poverty? Stand Up!! http://www.bebo.com/hectorforpresident
get rid of nuclear.
Wind farms are the way forward.
Screw the people who don't want them. Doubt most of them will be around when they are built anyway.
Outlaw iagree that any orginisation needs political support but that has to comee from all partys not just one. the end aim of the CND is for nuculer disarmement so we have to work for that no matter who is in power
nuclear weapons i could almost agree with but power? it seems that nuclear power is the most viable alternative to the global reliance on fossil fules. no1 wants the other alternatives in my local area there is a similar protest against a wind farm there does not appear to be many alternatives to nuclear power
Got to agree with Robbie Glass on this one the CND is an non party political organisation (have a look at your governing document) you ether take the SNP stuff down or put up stuff for all the other party’s that are standing in Glasgow east up.
I will also stop being a member if this is not done
Hey whats the with the nationalism? CND is just purely about geting rid of nuclear weapons not pursuing other political aims. I'm going to have to leave the group if that stays.
Good on you, I'm for a free Scotland but that also means a nuclear free one too.
nice group keep it up
Im a proud member of Scottish CND. Have my luv today
It is also a weapon to kill civilians so basically a weapon used for murder.
Big march 3rd of November in Edinburgh btw! opposing Trident etc...
Charlie G = A Big Fud!
The only thing a nuclear weapons program can guaruntee is future political tensions between emerging nations and the so-called "Super Powers" of the world today. As each 2nd and 3rd world country rises from economic desparity, their first show of real power and strength is not in the "will of the ppl" or the "economic security" they can offer their countrymen; it is a munitions battle of position and power. To stand shoulder to shoulder with the antagonists of this world is to admit you cannot think for yourself and create your own interpretaions of the world around you. All u do is feed the fire of ignorance which the governing body needs to keep the masses warm and cozy and submisive. Maybe you should stop worrying about the little day to day inconveniences which the impassioned ppl of this movement cause to locals and possibly yourself and consider what may happen the day a rising nation, run by a madman, decides to show their strenght by boming the UK.
