Final Home Game of the Season
|
Well, we've made it to the playoffs, but without home court advantage.
Today's games will decide who we play (and where).
If we beat Guildford Heat and Eagles beat Sharks, then we play against Milton Keynes Lions on Wednesday. Doesn't give the team long to prepare for the playoff game, but the game will be televised on Setanta.
If either Guildford Heat or Sheffield Sharks win today, then we have to make the long trip to Plymouth Raiders on Saturday.
I think we'd prefer to play the Lions - we've beaten them already this season and their isn't so much travelling involved (and we all get to shout at the telly).
By tonight, we'll know for sure.
See you at the game.
Matt.

Keeping the Dream Alive
|
It's been a while since I've written a blog here - the result of the televised home game against Milton Keynes was incredibly disappointing.
Having said that, it was a great night for the Rocks organisation - Bruce and Co. put on a great show for Setanta 1. Hats off to them.
The crowd were also fantastic - thanks to everyone who turned up on the night.
Rocks now have game hightlights on their web site:
http://www.scottishrocks.co.uk/Home/...
To get a home game for the playoffs, we have to win all our remaining games and Milton Keynes have to lose all of theirs.
Sounds insurmountable, but if you'd been glued to the internet like me waiting for the results of the Lions games, you would be on the edge of your seat.
First up was Everton vs Milton Keynes, which Everton managed to win by just 1 point.
Next, Milton Keynes vs Newcastle Eagles last night. Eagles had just clinched the league title and might have been expected to take their foot off the gas. Not a bit of it - the game went into double overtime (!!!) and ended at Lions 86 - Eagles 93.
Milton Keynes have one game left - away at Plymouth Raiders. Not the easiest of road trips.
That was the good news.
Rocks have three games left, with the toughest two games at Braehead.
Sun 13 PLYMOUTH 5:00 CH
Fri 18 Everton 8:00 CH
Sun 20 GUILDFORD 5:00 CH
Further, for tomorrows game, Julius Joseph has a wrist injury and will sit the game out, Bilal Clarance has an ankle injury and likely wont play, and Scott Russell has whiplash and may not play.
Oh well, nobody said it would be easy.
A home playoff game is still possible, though. The dream is still alive.
If we succeed, Milton Keynes will once again have to come up to Braehead. We may even have the game televised again. It would be a great opportunity to get revenge.
I'll be there tomorrow, shouting as usual. I hope the Braehead crowd are in fine voice - the team need you now more than ever.
See you at the ball game.
Matt.
By the way, feel free to add comments to this blog - it gets lonely typing here.
