| Ryan Star, also known as r.star, is an American born singer-songwriter and musician. He was also a reality television contestant on the CBS show Rockstar: Supernova. Ryan was born in Huntington, Long Island, New York. He was just 14 years old when he formed his first band called Stage. They released a handful of EPs, and in 2003 a self-titled album on Maverick Records. When the band parted ways, Ryan became the solo artist r.star. As r.star, Ryan released his solo debut album, "Songs From The Eye Of An Elephant", to rave reviews. After Rockstar he released a live album entitled "Dark Horse", which featured a moving cover of R.E.M.'s 'Losing My Religion'. He has accumulated a loyal following and has received critical acclaim from music critics for his powerful, emotive voice. He was recently signed to Atlantic Records and has just finished recording his first studio album since Rockstar. He often blogs at http://www.rstar.net .
