The Legend Bows Out
Legendary promoters Fantazia have announced today that they will not be hosting their annual February event at Braehead, Glasgow next year.
The rave promoters suggested that over the course of time it has become harder to maintain the same level of excitement at events by holding them continually at the same venue & wish to buy some to time in order to concentrate on hosting a better, more comprehensive show.
The news comes only weeks after their September event, where turnout was reported to be low, one news paper article suggested around 4,000. The promoter said that poor turnout could be put down to a range of things which included a late start to the promotional campaign & also the current state of the economy.
On the 28th of January 2006, Glasgows, Braehead arena hosted Fantazias first major event in Scotland since November 1993, simply entitled “The Legend Returns”. The event got rave reviews & the rave giant stormed on, holding yet another Glasgow event in September that year & then bi-annual events at the Braehead thereafter, up until September 09.
February 2010 would have been the 9th Braehead event & 4th Birthday party at the venue.
All is not lost however. Also today, Fantazia announced that they will be returning to the Braehead later in 2010 in order to host their annual September event as usual. The rave pioneers are promising to come back bigger & better next year. They said ” We will be bringing out a larger flyer, more wide ranging music policy, more entertainment lead show with not just DJs but performers and more. With the extra lead time we will be able to get the permission from the council to do what we want.”
Event flyers are to be released at the end of February next year, giving Fantazia over 6 months to promote the event as oppose to the 6 week campaign they had for The UV Glow Show in September.
Edinburgh based promoters Fantasylands have announced that they have secured the Braehead venue this February & will be hosting their first event in Glasgow.
More to follow.

The QFX-Factor
Scottish Dance group QFX have signed the X Factor finalist Nikitta Angus, who will replace their groups former lead vocalist, Debbie Hudspeth. Debbie has left the group to concentrate on her business.
Her replacement Nikitta, from Glasgow first shot to stardom on the popular TV talent show The X Factor, after securing 6th place out of 100,000 entrants in the third series of the show back in 2006. She was in the 16-24s category which was mentored by Simon Cowell & also produced that year’s winner Leona Lewis.
The R&B/ soul singer was an instant hit, securing 3 yes votes & Simon Cowells much sought seal of approval "It’s not often someone comes in here and sings straight from the heart”writing said the straight talking judge. This was the second attempt at auditioning for the show, after being struck by a car in 2004 10mins before the auditions.
Ironically, X-Factor 2006 was the same year that featured former QFX singer Kerry McGregor who also made it to the finals, however was put out in week 3, 2 weeks before Nikitta. Kerry sang vocals on the ’96 release of Freedom, “Freedom 2”.
21 year old Nikitta was up against 150 budding rivals this time in a bid to secure her place in the dance bands starting line-up. The top 4 QFX contestants were signed to Scottish label, Epedemic Records owned by QFX founding member Kirk Turnbull. Nikitta was signed to the label and the band.
Kirk Turnbull said "We were looking for someone who was a vocalist, who could cut it when it came to a live performance. Somebody with a personality who had the same kind of values as we have in the band in the way we deal with the public and our fans.” "She's a very talented girl and we've been writing and working on songs together."
Kirk went on to say "We're getting ready to re-launch the new website for the label.” "There's a great buzz about it and a lot of people want to be a part of it, including some pretty heavyweight dance people.” "The way things are at the moment it looks like going from strength to strength."
Fresh from her debut at Fantazia’s UV Glow Show at Glasgows, Braehead last month, Nikitta will join QFX for a hometown Halloween bash in Hawick town hall on Saturday 31st October.
QFX have been working on a new album & hope to have it out available to buy around Xmas. There is also promise of some unseen QFX footage being added to Youtube soon.

Masters Of Hardcore Touch Down In Glasgow
The barrage of quality imported talent & promotion smacks Glasgow square on the chops again tomorrow night as hard dance scene giants “Masters Of Hardcore” touch down on Scottish soil for the second time this year.
Fresh from hosting an arena at the February Fantazia and only weeks behind a Scottish Q-Dance debut, MOH are currently in the process of setting up their high quality production at Glasgows O2 Academy.
Recent reports suggest that the iconic Skull emblem has already been set up in advance of tomorrow nights party. lay host to one of the largest, all hardcore/ gabber events the city has ever seen.
The event format will be a slightly different “two room” set up from the recent Q-Dance night, which is more akin to the more home brewed BTTF events. The main arena will no doubt be a sea of masked fans as masked magicians Art Of Fighters & Angerfist take to the stage. Whereas room 2 should be awash with a see of black & white as from 11pm it will been taken over by the toon army, for an all Geordie Hardcore affair.
Q-Dance has already given Scotland a taste of the quality of production the dance super brands have to offer. Many dubbed their recent debut as one of the best nights of their lives and others who didn’t attend appeared to be slightly gutted as the after event reviews & comments flooded through.
Masters Of Hardcore are almost expected to at least reach the bar that Q-Dance has set & if they can, this promises to be one of the greatest hardcore nights Scotland has ever had.

From watches through to Blu Ray players there is always some new gadget that swears to be the next big thing in DJing.0 Replies 180 weeks
The 'Pacemaker' is a palm sized mp3 2 channel mixer and is the latest bit of tech on the market.
Many serious club DJs often see similar gadgets as just toys, however DJ Richie Hawtin actually endorses the product claiming "Pacemaker will be to dance music what guitars were to rock'n'roll".
The 400 quid gadget won the most innovative new product at the DJTECH awards 2008 and has secured a place on the shelf of several HMV stores.

Get wasted at parties,
from nine ’till seven in the morning
I live for the music..
Rolling blunts,
feeling high,
getting loaded,
or take some pills and go to LaLaLand.
Spending all my money on dope
and extreme highpriced tickets.
But in the end it’s all worth it!!
I like to live in my own world.
Fuck regular life, fuck a nine-to-five job.
I’m told to enjoy every moment,
Every hour, Every minute.
That’s what I do on fridays and saturdays.
Why should I take life so seriously??
I just wanna do, what I like to do!
Being far from reality,
‘Cause I can’t stand society.
This is my own world..
I just wanna hear the music.
I think the whole system fucking sucks..
Everybody is working their fucking ass off during the week.
Getting totally fucking stressed out.
So what’s wrong??!
And what’s right??!
I live for the weekend
I live for hardstyles
I live for hardstyles baby!!
