It seems that whenever the public are left to use pop culture themselves they get it wrong, whether this be ‘en masse’ wearing of tracksuits, the rise of Shayne Ward, or the Crazy Frog fiasco. “Pop Goes The Revolution” offers a light-hearted look at current pop culture with an eye for the alternative, with a tongue-in-cheek guide to the songs people should be listening, the fashions people should be into, and the news that people should be reading.
With a mixture of cynicism, sarcasm, snobbishness, and humour Pop Goes The Revolution offers a place to discover new music to your ears from unsigned bands to the latest independent releases, as well as giving an insight into the pop culture world we inhabit.

Having grown up in Cornwall he formed a love with the independent pop culture scene of his beloved home county and spent most of his teenage years traipsing from Cornish pub to Cornish pub watching local bands show why record labels and fame don’t prove a band is good, but merely show why it’s worth seeing a band you’ve never heard before.
In 2006 he left Cornwall and moved to Glasgow and was thrust into the city’s booming pop culture, now there he spends his life ill at ease with the fashion boutiques, massive high street chains and multi-thousand capacity gig venues. An expert in what makes music good, and excellent and sniffing out a good band; he is, however, useless when shopping. | | | Nikki | | Having spent her youth growing up a little outside Glasgow, Nikki spent her childhood dreaming of the big lights, bustling streets, and the constant action that Glasgow promised.
Escaping whenever she could to the city, she would spend her hours flicking through the city’s endless shopping district and checking out the awesome music the place has to offer.
Now in the city she lives for Glasgow, soaking up the atmosphere, fashion, theatre, festivals and music wherever she can go. A woman with more fashion than Gok Wan and Vivienne Westwood’s love child, Nikki Kane is a guru of pop culture; from the streets on her doorstep, to the internet and its gateway to a serious blog-reading issues, and endless band and fashion knowledge.
Stylish, sophisticated, and with the world’s largest Vogue collection, Nikki Kane is the one stop source for pop-culture knowledge. | | | Nikki's News | | Each week Nikki will be bringing you the latest news from around Glasgow, and offering you the best guide of gigs worth seeing, as well as any excellent exhibitions, events, new shops openning, a general all round guide of what to do in this fair city. | | | Cliff List | | George alternatively brings you his Cliff List. The idea is simple, between shows people can comment/email/text/stop him in the street and suggest something from pop culture that should be banished from history, whether it be a band someone hates, a fashion faux-pas, an absolutely atrocious Hollywood film, anything in the far reaching arms of pop culture. Each week on the show a couple of these things will be brought to the table (metaphorically) and then throughout the show a discussion will rage with listeners commenting and voting to have one of them banished forever. Then at the end of the show, like a symbolic psychological treatment we will push the most hated item off a cliff, to be banished forever from our minds so that it can no longer bother us. | | | About Subcity Radio | | Subcity Radio is a student radio station based at Glasgow University.
