Radio 1 legend Dave Pearce brings his Trance Anthems 2009 Tour to Newry on Friday 26 June as Planetlove WKD presents the biggest summer club night of the year in The Relic!
Millions of clubbing enthusiasts grew up with Pearce on the airwaves as he provided the soundtrack to a generation of dance music fans across the UK and beyond.
He has sold over one million compilation albums in the UK as well as hosting television shows, compiling award winning movie soundtracks, presenting radio shows on both sides of the Atlantic and creating one of Britain’s most successful record labels; NuLife.
It all kicked off when the ‘voice of a nation’ started DJing on London-based pirate radio stations while still at school.
At 16 he was running his own station and by the age of only 17 Pearce was DJing to a glamorous Bollywood crowd in Bombay, India.
Shows on BBC Radio London, GLR and Kiss FM followed before an ever-impressive Pearce joined BBC Radio 1 and his career behind the microphone catapulted him to worldwide stardom.
Originally hosting the Early Breakfast Show, Pearce went on to host a variety of different shows on the station including the Recovery Session, The Weekend Breakfast Show, Drivetime, Late Drive and Dance Anthems.
Dance Anthems ran for 11 years before the cap-loving superstar relocated the show to BBC 6 Music where it continues to deliver the perfect after party antidote for clubbers every Sunday night.
Earlier this year Pearce released a new compilation series, The Dance Years, with Ministry of Sound; a series comprising of the biggest and most important dance tracks from the past 20 years.
Each year was released via its own dedicated album along with sleeve notes written by Pearce detailing what happened within the clubbing scene in each of those respective years.
Throughout the summer the media-friendly jock has retained regular sets in holiday resorts across Europe and the Mediterranean including Tramps in Tenerife, BCM Mallorca and Zante in Greece.
And with festival appearances and tour dates throughout the UK Pearce’s gig diary is as busy now as ever before.
Joining Pearce in the Relic is Northern Ireland legend and one half of dynamic duo Agnelli & Nelson; Robbie Nelson.
‘El Nino’, ‘Hudson Street’, ‘Everyday’, ‘Holding On To Nothing’ and ‘Wear That Dress’ are just some of the iconic tracks produced by the Larne DJ who has played at every major club in the world from Gatecrasher in the UK to Zouk in Singapore.
Ireland’s favourite DJ and Club Educate frontman John Gibbons is also on disc duty along with local heroes Major 12 Inch and Jonny Brown.
