  • No guitar, and now no 4-track

    So now I'm at the Gold Coast now with my aunt and uncle.

    Until recently I still had my 4-track recorder. But I don't have a guitar. I can't even find any cheap guitars that you would give to a five year old kid learning to play. Wtf...

    I had to throw out my 4-track, useful as it was, it just kept on having too many mechanical breakdowns, I would have to constantly open it up and tweak something to get it going... what a pain in the ass. It's not too much of a loss seeing that I have nothing to play with, not even a toy keyboard.

    That gives me an idea...

    Meantime, I've been writing a few lyrics. It's been a while since I've had so much focus on them, normally I would write down something whenever it comes to me, or if I think of something and remember it I'll write it down later. But as the weather has been absolutely terrible for the last few days, I would usually have nothing to do, so I would sit in my room for some time, often spending an hour trying to think of how to put words together for one line.

  • New song

    So I don't know if you guys know, but I'm in Australia at the moment, being a helpful boy for my God-mother who is running a motel in a town called Broken Hill.

    I brought my 4-track tape recorder, but haven't used it until recently. I've been dabbling about with the guitar since arriving here and I've just recently been piecing together a song. I have some big plans for this, which involves lots of overdubbing. Unfortunately there's only so much overdubbing you can do with a 4-track recorder of which only has three functioning, recordable tracks, so I may have to wait 'til I get home before this song can become more fully realised.

    The song is called "Good," and it sounds a little like that slowww section of "Vinegar" but much faster and a bit similar to that ascending section in "Honeycomb" (maybe a little too similar?)

    Seriously, who the fuck even checks this website apart from me?

    Jo and I have filmed another song, it's the until recently untitled song 3, with the atlernate tuning. It is still rough, but a lot less rough than the demo version I recorded.

    It is now called "IXIII", pronounced "One-Thirteen"

    It's named after what the strings look like between the tailpiece and the bridge of my guitar. See the photos for an explanation, although it looks slightly different.

    I will upload it as soon as I can, but Bebo is being a sookie little bitch and locks up when I try to upload any videos.

    YAY!!

    In other news, I am on a quest to mod my guitar up HEAPS so that it is just about a completely new guitar. Like my nana's husband said it was like, think of it like this: A lumberjack has an axe, it's had five new axe heads and three new handles, but it's still the same axe.
