The Pioneer Association is an All Ireland Organisation that promotes sobriety and moderation in lots of ways. The Young Pioneers are a category of membership for Pioneers aged 12-27 years of age - or young at heart if a little older.
This page is for all Pioneers to share info, photos and comments and keep in touch with other groups from around the country. We hope you enjoy it.
For more info on the Pioneers have a look around this page or check out the offical Pioneer Website at www.pioneerassociation.ie
The National Youth Committee is an important offical group of Young Pioneers who represent and organise activities for Young Pioneers. Anyone interested should feel free to get in touch!

- YOUTH WEEKEND 2010
- YOUTH WEEKEND 2010
The Meath Diocesan Council and National Youth Committee are pleased to announce that the Annual Pioneer Youth Activity Weekend for 12-17 year olds, is making its return to Gormanston College, Co. Meath from the 2nd to 4th July 2010.
Gormanston College has been the venue for six memorable Youth Weekends in the past and is an ideal venue for the occasion. Advantages of the College include:
- Modern Bedrooms - Swimming Pool - Own Supervisory Staff - Conference Facilities
- Large Gymnasium - Courts and Pitches - Disco/ Recreational Rooms - Own Church.

The committee are very excited to again be organising this prestigious event. With a wealth of experience in organising youth activities, we have in mind all that is required to organise a successful, fun and enjoyable Youth Weekend. Everything is provided onsite: food, accommodation, activities etc. There will be no need to leave the college grounds at any time. Group Work and Activities will include interesting talks from well known personalities, participative group work, Pioneer related discussions/ activities, sport and games, a Rose Competition, Mass, discos and surprise entertainment.
Those who wish to take part in the fun Rose Competition either as Roses or Escorts are asked to contact the booking secretary in advance of the weekend. Adults attending with groups can take part in a programme designed for Pioneer Centres with an active youth section. Details available soon.
The Meath Diocesan Committees have many years experience in organising Pioneer Youth Activities and every care has been taken to ensure the safety of our young people. Participants will be placed in groups of approximately 10-15 young people supervised by group leaders. These group leaders will be briefed on the PTAA Child Protection Policy and will in turn be supervised by head leaders. The college too will have supervisory staff in place throughout the weekend. Groups of 10 or more are to be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Rules and expected behaviour will be explained clearly upon arrival. With an extensive timetable in place participants are expected to attend and participate in activities. Participants who chose not to follow the rules, who are disruptive or clearly fail to participate in the weekend, may have their Parents/ Guardians called to bring the young person home. Such an action would be for the safety and enjoyment of the other parti - PIONEERS?
- Young Pioneers are people who have undertaken not to take alcohol or drugs until at least the age of 18yrs. There are lots of different activities throughout the year, weekend away, sports, quizes and the Readoiri Talent Compettion, the National Ball and local youth groups.
- National Youth Committee
- The National Youth Committee (NYC) is the official body of Young Pioneers in Ireland. It is a sub committee of the Pioneer Board of Management - which gives its a privileged position and influence. The NYC officially consists of 5 members from each province - ulster, munster, leinster and connaught - but we are always looking for more and more people to have a voice. We work closely with the other groups in the Pioneers, representing the views of the Young Pioneers.

ALL FRIENDS MUST BE RE ACCEPTED TO THIS SITE - IT"LL BE UPDATED AGAIN SOON!!
The Summer is nearly over and those of you heading back to school are very excited I'm sure!! Others recieved their Leaving Cert results and I'm sure are very happy, and probably a little nervous as you enter ADULT-DOM (Not ADULT-DOOM!!)
We were really happy with the youth weekend in Gormanston, it was one of the best groups ever - the important thing now is to tell your friends Best thing to do is to look at this sites photos or your own, think about the weekend and have it fresh in your mind going back!!
I understand that its not always the easiest to keep your pledge so maybe consider using this site to help each other out - you all are the experts -
Let us know how you keep the pledge, the reactions of your friends and what you find best when that reaction isn't always the best!

Gormanston 2006!!
Well, the Pioneer Youth Weekend in Gormanston has come and gone...ahh
I hope ye all had a good time. It might be a few days until i get photos up on the site but if ye have any you want to share plz let me know.
I want to thank everyone again for how you all participated so well - especially at the talks and in the Group Work which turned out way better than I expected. We were going to have a winning group but it was too close to call..
And as far as entertainment, the Rose Competition, the Fancy Dress Disco and the Magician went down a treat... I hope you enjoyed them.
But the main thing is that you take all what you've learned and apply it to the Pioneers in your local area or school. Keep in touch with the friends you've made as it make it so much easier to keep your Pioneer Promise into the future.
Talk to ye all soon,
Dermot
