- Hey, thanks for checking out my bebo music page.
I've been playing instruments since I was a young whippersnapper, starting on piano aged 7 & then drums, percussion, guitar etc in my teens.
I played music throughout Uni, but after graduating put it to one side & get a job in TV. During my time behind the scenes in TV, I continued writing and recording songs. These eventually culminated in my debut album 'Let The Night Roll In'. I didn't have a band when I recorded it, so had to play all the instruments myself.
During this time I came up with the concept of doing a video with me playing all the instruments. I eventually did this for my cover of Jason Mraz's 'I'm Yours' which I entered in a bebo competition. He's one of my favourite songwriters so I was over the moon when I won and got to perform a duet with him at The Cambridge Junction!!
My next video will be another cover, by a different songwriter, but similar style to 'I'm Yours'. Watch this space

Performing with Jason Mraz at The Cambridge Junction
When Jason's management called me on May 14th to tell me my 'I'm Yours' video had won the Bebo competition I was a very happy chap. I'd won the chance to play at soundcheck with one of my favourite musicians! However when June 30th at The Cambridge Junction came around, there was a slight change of plan:
"Do you know how to play the lead guitar to I'm Yours?" asks Jason.
"Erm... Yeah I think I can work it out" I respond (That's my response when anyone asks me if I can play something I don't know).
"Cool then you can play that tonight" replies Jason casually.
... and so my prize got a bit bigger and scarier: A soundcheck AND a gig! Woo yeah.
The soundcheck itself was fantastic. The band sounded brilliant & as the only audience member, I had a pretty good seat. Jason and the band made me feel really welcome. Just before finishing they invited me up to play 'I'm Yours' with them. I'd watched from the crowd when they performed this at Hyde Park a couple of days earlier, so it was pretty surreal being up onstage this time.
In the evening I watched in the audience with everyone else (Great gig!!) until Jason invited me up to perform during the encore. It's always been a dream of mine that one day I'd start one of my songs at a gig and the crowd would go wild. Well this was a premature taster of what that feels like...! It feels good. Veeery good. Jason gave me the count in and then after about 2 seconds the place errupted. For the next 3 minutes or so I was in a very happy place... I don't really know how to explain it. Fortunately there's a video so you can see for yourself.
Afterwards I had a beer in the dressing room with the band and then made my way home. Really really good day. Thanks to Jason, bebo and everyone else involved for making it happen & making me feel so welcome. I would happily do that again every day until I'm a wrinkly old man.
