My name is Teresa.
I am not a member of staff at our ladys or part of the managment, i am just a woman of five children who does not want her childrens hospital taken away.
I am making this group as i am sure alot of people in Dublin are aware that alot of hospitals are being closed down.
This is a page where the young people of ireland can give there say about the fact that our government today are closing down there hospitals.

well as you can see from the new pics, we where out in force yesterday at the protest,
It was a fab gathering with thousands of people attending.
Lets hope that this is the first step on the ladder to the goverment waking up and realising that YES THIS COUNTRYS HEALTH SERVICE IS IN CRISIS, AND THAT CLOSING HOSPITALS AND CUTTING BEDS AND FUNDS IS NOT THE WAY TO DEAL WITH IT.

The Future of Crumlin Childrens’ hospital has become a national issue – a political football – another example of the appalling state of Health care, and the apparent indifference of Government to deal with repeated crises.
But it is also a major local issue, as the new Sinn Fein. Councillor Ray McHugh, who works at the hospital, asks:
“What are the government’s plans for the Lady of Lourdes Hospital?” It appears from the latest Report (published start of November) that there aren’t any.
Sinn Fein’s T.D. Aengus O’Snodaigh, has campaigned relentlessly, over the years, for the provision of one single, specialist, accessible, National Childrens’ Hospital.
He replied, immediately the RKW report was published, "I find it highly hypocritical that just last week Minister Harney arrived out to Crumlin to open a new ward at Our Lady's Children's Hospital all the while it is widely expected that she plans to close the hospital."
The latest report talks about a possible satellite ‘ambulatory’ consultant-led centres at Blanchardstown, in addition to Tallaght, and even perhaps a nurse -led one at Loughlinstown for minor injuries, .but no mention of a Crumlin facility.
Crumlin’s wards and operating theatres have been largely financed over the years by fund raising, often led by the extraordinary work of, now retired, Consultant Dr. Fin Breathnach, who has raised millions to provide health facilities for some of the sickest children in the state, where government denied them.
Local people too, many parents and the 1,500 staff have all contributed their time and money to fill in where over the years the Government Health Department has failed, utterly, to take care of sick children seriously.
Previous minister is reported as saying “Sick children always have sympathy. The childrens’ hospital can always fund raise.”
Now it seems the Government, hiding behind the HSE, and yet more ‘consultants’, are moving ahead with a policy which no one agrees to, or was even consulted about.
The McKinsey Report, which came out in February 2006, consulted with doctors, staff, and parents. The government has now torn up that report, and have produced a further report, by business consultants, RKW, which sets out how to implement a proposal, drawn up subsequently by a task force of twelve civil servants, which ‘proposed’ the exact opposite of what all doctors, consultants, parents and staff agreed to, in the McKinsey Report.
Was The RKW report to drive a party political decision – to locate a National Childrens’ Hospital in Bertie Aherns’ s consitutency? Dr. Fin Breathnach replied to this question on Marion Finucane’s show (Nov. 3rd) “You’ve said it!”

The health service is not for sale for the rich to be given tax incentives but to provide the effective service we as human beings should demand as a right. Doctors like Crowne, nelligan and Bhreathnach are to be commended for their stance and we must support them against a government, which is bordering on the tactics of mccarthyism, witchunting and censorship.

i am 14. I was diagnosed with s.l.e. 2 years ago. ever since i have been in this hospital. I have had cancer and the doctors here are im lost for words incredible. without them i wouldnt be here. there is one dr. drkilleen she is a miracle. If sh hadnt been at the hospital no one would have been able to see i had lupus and therfor i wouldnt be here today. save this hospital if it goes i will not have the support i need!

The politicians and their family don't rely on public services sadly...maybe if they did they'd understand why we all want to protect them! Its an absolute shambles of a system.

my daughter suffers with severe asthma,and without the help of the brilliant doctors and nurses of our ladys she would`nt be in as good health as she is today. they were brilliant with her and it made it so easy to bring her to the hospital because they made her so at ease.please dont close this hospital for all the kids sakes

They looked after my daugher when she was a baby and needed an operation....you take crumlin hospital away...you take the heart of dublin away and break a lot of hearts too.....what is happening to this country...I no longer want to live in it....only the rich matter....
