- Nuna whichs means "spirit" in quechua (original Inca dialect) is an electronic lounge project based in Lima fusing Peruvian and Latin rhythms, intepreted with instruments from all over the world like the Indian sitar, African djembe, Middle Eastern dumbek mixed with the Peruvian cajon, charango, quena and zamponia. This is our first release, "El Espiritu de la Musica."

Neto originally starting as a drummer in the Lima rock scence.. Los Ultimos, Textura, Raiza, Hypnoascenscion, Supay, Rayobac y Ertiub are some of the bands he has been with between 1996 and 2006. In 2003, he formed the band Plecss, where he composed, sang and played the guitar.
In 2005 he began what was to be the seed of Nuna, instrumentatal songs fused with peruvian and latin rhythms combined with electronic lounge.
José Antonio Paz Soldán
(Percussion, Winds, Strings)
With more than 30 years in music, Jose Antonio has transversed the rhythms of Peru and Latin America with grand masters such as: Luis Garland, Félix Casaverde, the colombian musician Carlos Alonso. He has also worked with: Amigos, El Carbón, Perú Expressión, Madera y Julie Freundt.
Atfer which he entered the pop rock scene with artists like:Gian Marco Zignago, Afrodisíaco, Patricio Suárez Vertiz, Jean Paul Strauss y Jorge Pardo. He explored jazz fusion with the Russian saxophonist Gennady , forming the Djembe Afroperujazz y Gennady Latin Jazz Band.
Christian Becker
(Guitar, Sitar, Bass, Zampoña, Percussion)
After studying sitar with the great master of Indian music, Ali Akbar Khan in San Francisco, Christian studied music in Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he specialized in music from Brazil, Cuba y Africa. He has been performing World Beat, Blues, Jazz y Reggae music for the last 15 years. He has performed with groups both inAsia and the United States. Originally born in Lima, he has lived abroad all his life only to recently rediscover his Peruvian roots.

playing live
by the way when we play live we use pre-recorded loops as backing tracks (bass, percussion, etc...). We manually can control the loops for the different sections of the song using Ableton Live and a midi foot controller. We use our protools digirack audio interface connected to our desktop computer. We used to use our laptop but it would always overheat during our shows.0 Comments 837 days

creative process of recording
we received a comment asking how we recorded our music so we thought we could start a blog on that subject.
While we were jamming and a nice idea came out we would use our iriver mp3 recorder to record the raw idea. The iriver is cool cause it has a input for a mike or line in from our console and has adjustable recording level. Then we fool around and arrange the ideas into the form of a song. When we are really ready to record we have a studio in our living room and use our desktop computer with an audio interface (protools digirack 2). For mikes we've been using sm58 as thats all we got at the moment.
The first 3 songs we recorded track by track. But the other 8 songs we recorded all 3 musicians playing live at the same time on top of loops using Ableton Live.
Recording was the easy part. Mixing and editing took much longer. Getting all the levels right and adding reverb etc...
Now the most important comment we can share is to BACKUP DAILY. After we finished over a year of work and sent the final mixes to the record company to manufacture our cd, 6 hours later our hard disk died and we lost everything. If it happens 7 hours earlier we all would have committed harikiri. True story!!!!0 Comments 837 days
