    • ragamuffin was well wikid son...well wikid!!!

      finally got to the reggae concert of all time.Spent too long at the uni bar drinkin cheap drinks..haha..unfortunately missed katchafire,but could hear them.Then cruised in to the concert in time for Arrested Development.Everyday People went off like a mother ...awesome buzz thru the crowd....Then out came Maxi Priest,smooth voice just like on his records,and the best moment for me was watchn the bassist hit that funky riff on "Close To You"...he even brought out his son Marvin to help with the vocals,but didnt hear him sing Some guys Have All the Luck...or That Girl...oh well.
      Then out Came the Wailers....with Damien Marley on vocals...had to say,prob the only disappointment for me...they played crazy baldheads....no woman no cry...exodus...but not much else of Uncle Bobs collection...But got to see a hero of mine on the bass Aston "Family Man" Barrett....the 'architect' of so many famous basslines.
      Then came UB 40....class act as always....all the greats...well most of them...surprised to hear sweet sensation from labour of love...never heard them play that before...awesome night...sore hands from clapping...sore voice from singing....sore feet from dancin...lol...cant ask for better than that!...chur chur raggamuffin! see u next year!

      man,each stint just brings a new story...always a bad one tho!
      28th november,workin with a driller called ramon,top fella,part samoan so we got da kiwi connection..lol....anyways,was showing his cousins husband who just started with boart longyear,how do run rods back into the hole.As a 6metre rod got hoisted up the mast of the drill rig, i caught the end of it as it swung off the deck,but the momentum of it kinda swung my hand into the mast,right where a fairly sharp edge of a guide rail was,which cut thru the 2nd bone in my little finger of my left hand..awesome...awesome...
      got 1st aid,then later that night,off to townsville.Had to stay in a motel ,then saw a gp next morning.He was having trouble trying to get me to a surgeon cause i need operating on quickly..after trying three specialists,he had to send me to the a&e at townsville hospital.
      So here i was,from about 5pm til 4am stuck in the a&e waiting for a bed upstairs in the surgery ward.Finally got shifted up there at 4 in the morning,realised..shit..its my bday!...and then got told i couldnt eat or drink til the surgeon was ready to operate.Well...all day (birthday)in a medical gown with my ass out...and starving,feeling old(35!)...got operated on finally at 10pm!!....Spent the night of course,then flew out to bris the next day.Spent the next week in brisbane doing light duties at the office/yard.Missing out on this weeks dragon boat regatta in recliffe bugger it!..
