- Sometimes shy, but often quirky and with lots to say; what you get from Nicol is a mind blowing vocal delivery, so powerful and precise, it’s hard to understand where it all comes from.
Raised in Encino, California in the late 1980’s, American music has left an indelible mark on Nicol and still remains a major influence on her classic pop/folk sound today. A move to London during Nicol’s early teens has undoubtedly contributed to a unique Anglo-American blend.
In fact Nicol spent the best part of her early teenage years working on intelligent melodies and insightful lyrics, some of which would later feature among a repertoire of timeless compositions….the kind Joni Mitchell would surely be proud of.
Having recently completed numerous studio recordings, Nicol explains she is now ready to release her music to the world for the first time. Nicol is simply pop music at its best and most sophisticated.

HElloooo Everyone! Nicol is back from under the rock
Helllooooo- I write to you from the clutches of a dangerous cold/flu I have been experiencing, its not nice & I dont like it but it sure as hell gives me the time to get on here and message everyone- latest obecession twitter what a great way to keep in touch and vent from time to time....love bunny's, Lannaisfabby and Marly Wills constant updates from aerospace- keeps me grounded y'know! sooner or later my whole band will be on it communicating from cyberspace and the text message & BBM'ing will indeed die out! So how's everyone been? been seeing some familiar faces at gigs lately & for goodness sake all the guest-list peeps who I dont actually get to meet do come over and say hello to us
I know we can all look totally crazy after a gig but it's the stage high that gets us and of course putting new songs out there! So what have I been up to??
1/ Recording- Went in to the studio with the legendery Dan Swift (Aqualung/Snow Patrol) the other week- me and the band decided to lay down some new tracks and Juliette came out sounding awesome so stuck it up on here for you to check out! since then I have been lost in a songwriting marathon in the studio working on new stuff and came up with 'stuck in the middle of half way there' which is halfway finished but its chorus is keeping me up at night....driving me to insanity!
2/ The Lock Tavern- regular hailing to the tavern with the band and co for Jd's and coke- in betwixt me staying off spirits- suprisingly high spiritied me still...go figure! We draw a lot of inspiriation from this regular haunt, a lot of bands play there and we love to go and watch them on the intimate stage with guitars being elegantly plucked and drums smashed on randomly by passers by ( you know who you are!) giving their little bit to the performance!
3/ Record releases- as you know the past year of gigging and stuff has been awesome, you guys have all been an amazing support from far far and beyone and happy to say I have a major label release this year of my single 'Man on the moon' for European territories, they are so open to my sound & I figured why the hell not so tours ahead there methinks ( sting and the police style circa 1979-1980) also got a tune coming out on this track I am featured on 'Heartbreak' which I wrote with Matt ( off Deepest Blue) much of the inspiration was taken from Imogen Heap & of course a little electric guitar vibes after a day out drinking tea on the kings road about a year ago- just went in and slammed it down and what do you it could be a hit! thats coming out across North America next two months- so fingers crossed for a billboard top 100 there! Did a little photoshoot for it too so those snaps will be going up-nothing raunchy although its dance- just good times club-esque scenes!
This is indeed the longest blog in history so gonna keep it short and sweet! There is a song on the way for single two in Europe whereby I am gonna be getting an NY rapper in- interesting I know my taste in music is very diverse....I know what can work y'know. As for my cold I am exceptionally tired after weeks of mad midnight shoots and gainful employment at the piano so have not been writing back as much as shoudl have to lovely messages you have all been writing to me.
So, the gig at roundhouse is this month April 22nd tickets are available on the Roundhouse website so promise me y'all will come- copies of 'Everybody knows' promo's will be free gifts at the door or you can grab one off me end of the show!

Bonjour dudes I am sorry for my lateness in replying to everyone who is requesting about my song Fall Down on Army Wives- there has been some excellent exposure since the show and its been great talking & meeting all you new people! BUT every time I am trying to write back verification codes block my path and mess with my ways- what is wrong with myspace- come on Tom sort it out! Anyways- Fall Down is out on ITUNES US store real soon will keep you in the loop so you can actually BUY it! The weekend and past week has been cool- went to see Manchester Utd! also been working on a few songs & there is this new one that I am co-writing & I still haven't sat at my piano with it, its just one of those songs writing itself in my head in little chapters- I can describe it a little- it rocks kinda slow, steady, its in 6/8 & has a dark but uplifting chorus & does not contain an ounce of resentment to anyone really just compassion, real compassion- I cant wait to go and work on it with my genius producer- its what I live for man, the moments that he leads to with the production, the elements of the glorious state of love we can sometimes be in, the melancholy, its draining but with enough sweat, blood and tears I know it'll be worth-it. All i know is when I make these songs is that LOVE saves us from falling into fucked up little pieces- love is like superglue that holds all the un-authenticity together & also the realness- I couldn't really give a damn about much material things in life although I possess this exterior brattiness, but at the end of the day its about not giving a damn about what people think of how we feel about who we are- this is the bottom line...I write so much about relationships & friendships I have had for so so many years, dramatic ones, sob-worthy ones...and so forth- its all a f'ing adventure. This week I am rehearsing with my band, getting the bass player in first, I have this song 'STAY' & it has this serious percussive aspect- I really love singing it live & I actually really enjoyed recording it which was a first! It sorta needs to be like fireworks & totally slay away while at the same time its tame cos the message of the song is that- its gonna be a toughie for the drummer but all in good time! Hope to see you all at the gig Sept 2nd Soho Revue Bar- lastly what does alcohol have to do with this blog? you will find out on the next one-
