Technology Improves: A scratch-resistant, high-tech paint, embedded with of flecks of ceramic, is standard. Owners who actually decide to challenge overgrown trails, or those who share their garages with kids, toys, and bicycles. The Premium 1 package includes an optional power lift gate operated with the FOB. Several organizing devices for the cargo are available as accessories.
Innovations: The M-Class is built using car-like uni-body construction with isolated front and rear sub-frames, a method that causes less vibration and decreases weight. This is achieved with four-link independent rear suspension, along with a front suspension called a double-wishbone and sedan-style dynamics. It has more than eight inches of ground clearance. Electronic traction aids the M-Class so it can venture further down the beaten path than most owners know or dare to travel. Mercedes owners will feel at home in an M-Class and appreciate the cache and engineering the Mercedes brand will find plenty to like here.
Fuel efficiency: The best mileage in the M-Class is delivered by the ML450 Hybrid. The city is its principal advantage where it gives better fuel economy than the like performing ML350 by 6/4 miles per gallon. The ML350 Blue TEC diesel delivers the EPA estimated twenty-four miles per gallon in highway driving, and eighteen miles per gallon in city driving.
EPA numbers have been generally pessimistic for the M-Class; ML350 4MATIC V6 rates only fifteen miles per gallon city driving, and twenty miles per gallon highway driving (16/21 2WD). The ML 550 is rated thirteen miles per gallon in city driving, and eighteen miles per gallon in highway driving. The worst of the M-Class is the ML63 AMG, which only gets eleven miles per gallon in city driving and fifteen miles per gallon in highway driving.

The 2011 Mercedes-Benz M-Class offers a nice balance. It is not as stiff and unforgiving as some SUVs, or as mushy on and off road as others are. It has reasonable off-highway capability and good towing capacity, but it is never a chore to drive during the more mundane daily tasks most drivers will undertake. Its choice of five powertrains is a plus.
