2011 Audi A8 L Performance
Drivers of the 2011 Audi A8L demand performance that is intelligent as well as powerful. The 372 hp 4.2 V8 direct fuel injection engine has been shown to surpass the fuel efficiency of several other luxury hybrid vehicles. This performance starts with the 4.2 FSI® V8 engine. The FSI® injects exactly the right amount of fuel into the engine with the precisely right air mixture. The special design of the pistons within the cylinder compress the air fuel mixture to create a spiral effect, providing the best combustion possible.
By making the most of the fuel and air mixture results in the highest possible efficiency and provides responsive power at any speed. This efficient and effective power is moved through the new shift by wire eight speed Tiptronic® Transmission. This is a permanent all wheel drive system known as quattro, which is basically a mechanical system engineered around a self locking, torque sensing, center differential that shifts power to where it is needed instantly. This means quattro is adjusting power between front and rear axles constantly, making sure that the power is delivered to where it is needed. In regular driving conditions, quattro shares the power between each axle by sending 40 percent to the front and 60 percent to the rear. By constantly assessing grip, quattro ensures the best combination of traction and handling on any road conditions.
