    20TH August 2009

Team Kiwi Racing have in place sponsors, drivers and crew ready to campaign a two car TKR Junior Development Team here in New Zealand for the coming 2009/10 season.

TKR has also confirmed its intentions to be in a position to secure a new franchise for the start of the Australian 2010 V8 Supercar series to ensure TKR can continue with the ongoing development of Kiwi drivers from the local motorsport arena to the international level of motorsport as they have over the last 10 years for drivers such as Jason Richards Angus Fogg, John McIntyre, Simon Wills, Gene Rollinson, Jason Liefting, Craig Baird, Fabian Coulthard, Paul Radisich, Kayne Scott, Shane van Gisbergen and Daniel Gaunt who have all benefited from TKR's support over the years and been provided such opportunities.

The drivers names highlighted show the drivers that are either running full time in the Australian V8 Supercar Championship and or who are driving in this year’s enduro races proving that TKR's support has benefited many Kiwi drivers to break into the big time of V8 Supercars over the years.

  • NZV8 News: New Zealand V8s get live TV

    T.E.N. by T.E.N.
The MotorSport New Zealand premier championship series, anchored by the BNT V8s, will screen as live on 3 Sport this summer.

Kerry Cooper, general manager of The Motorsport Company, which promotes and organises the series said the opportunity for live TV coverage will create a massive boost for the series.

“They will cover all six rounds with three V8s races shown in the 2-6 pm time slot as live, in the same way V8 Supercars and A1GP are presented.

The racing programme has been changed for the coming season with all three BNT V8s sprint races on Sunday.
“There will be one race from each of the other five championship classes shown in the same programme.

On the Sunday following the round, 3 Sport will deliver in a 3-6pm programme a wrap up of the previous weekend’s V8s racing and show the rest of the races from the other classes.

“This will give New Zealand motorsport more TV time than we have ever had and will provide the immediacy wanted by motorsport fans who are unable to get to the track,” Mr Cooper said.

Colin Caldwell, TV3 sales director was equally delighted with the new arrangement.

“The New Zealand V8s are a premium product and this will give them premium treatment,” he said. “It will put the BNT V8s up with F1, V8 Supercars and Indycars in delivering same day viewing and it will also provide great exposure for the other classes on the programme.”

  • Hamilton 400 : Easy as 1, 2, 3 - Fords victorious

    T.E.N. by T.E.N.
Holden fans will be drowning their sorrows this week as their favourite car's dominance at the New Zealand round of the Australian V8 Supercar championships was well and truly ended.

Although Holden still top the table with 23 wins from 26 starts, Triple Eight Ford driver Jamie Whincup showed them all the way home in both races in the second round of the V8 title chase around the streets of Hamilton.

In fact, it was a Ford one, two and three, with James Courtney finishing second and Steven Johnson in third at the end of the weekend's second race. Whincup is now undefeated after two rounds of championship.

"The race was all about having a fast car and a really quick, early pitstop," he said. "The car was like being on rails all weekend. We made up the three spots we lost in qualifying and bought the car home nicely. It made up for not starting last year, and to win both races is amazing."
