- Just to let you know that the Royal National Mòd, Scotland’s biggest Gaelic festival, is taking place in Caithness next year, 2010, between Friday 8th October and Saturday 16th October! The folks on the local organising committee are working really hard to make the Caithness Mòd a really enjoyable one for all of you whether you are local or visiting, young or old. We want everyone to have a great time, not just during the Mòd but in the run-up to the event also!
You can show your support by becoming a member of our bebo fan-club, keeping up to date with and taking part in events – check the events diary - don't be shy take part when you can! You can also help us by raising funds – if you have an idea – let us know about it and we’ll support you. Don’t worry if you don’t speak Gaelic – we’ll help you!

MÒD 2010 WEBSITE LIVE
A new website has gone live in the run up to the Royal National Mòd in
October 2010.
Designed by David Bain, who lives in Fife but has Caithness connections,
the website provides all the latest information on forthcoming events and
local information for those planning to visit the area. Connor Williamson,
based in Caithness, provided initial support for the website to gain
experience in web design and then handed to David.
Carol-Anne Mackay, Events Support Office (Mòd Ghallaibh) said “We very much
appreciate the work that Connor did in the initial designing of the website
and also to David Bain – son-in-law of Frankie Murdoch (Mòd Ghallaibh 2010
Treasurer) – who has built on the original concept and got it into a
position where it is now live. They have both done an excellent job and a
lot of effort has gone in to creating such a valuable resource.”
“The website is for everyone – for the local community it is a chance to
find out what will be happening over the coming months in the run-up to the
Mòd while ensuring there is plenty of information for those who plan to
visit the area. “
Raymond Bremner, Convenor of the local organising committee added “The Mòd
is a fantastic opportunity to show those visiting what Caithness and North
Sutherland has to offer. We have such a diverse community with many great
cultures and backgrounds and it will be great to see the local community
get behind the events leading up to the Mòd and, of course the Mòd itself.”
“I would encourage everyone to log on to the website, find out what is
happening and, more importantly, support the events that are taking place.
We are also keen to receive ideas and information from visitors and locals
in the run-up to the Mòd and this can be done using the website.”

POOLEWE CEILIDH CANCELLED
Unfortunately the ceilidh in Poolewe this Saturday, 27th February, has been cancelled due to the weather conditions.
The was going to be run by the Poolewe branch of An Comunn Gaidhealach as a fundraiser for Mod Ghallaibh 2010.

Caithness.................... I know a lady who is 92 this year who is really looking forward to this mod so keep her some good accommodation. she has only been to about 70 odd mods but not one in caithness
