Minardi were a constructor, competing in Formula 1, Formula 2, and are currently racing in Champ Car, and co-own a GP2 team. Giancarlo Minardi founded Minardi in 1979, enter Formula 2 the following year. During 1984, he made the decision to enter Formula 1 in succeeding year. In their first season, they ran only one driver-Pierluigi Martini, who acheived a season best of 8th. Paul Stoddart, saving the team from fold, bought Minardi in 2001. He ran the team until 2005, when he sold Minardi to Red Bull. In the 21 season Minardi raced in (345 races), they had little success, acheiving a best of 4th position thrice. The best qualifying they accomplished was 2nd at the US GP in 1990. Minardi were well recognized for always getting their cars out first in qualifying, so to get some TV recognition, usually being unseen during the GP. Two time champion Alonso once drove for Minardi. Other notiable drivers include Mark Webber, Giancarlo Fisichella, Jarno Trulli, among others.

  • Toro Rosso Win At Monza 2008

At last, the Minardi boys are elated spirits, not only at the pole position, but also at the win achieved by Sebastian Vettel; the twently-one year old used his first grid spot from the outset to make the Grand Prix his fiefdom.
The mechanics of 'Scuderia Toro Rosso', who mostly consist of ex-Minardi mechanics, are rewarded for all their hard work. Several seasons' hard labour resulted in no championship points, with few notable results. The 'Italian Grand Prix of 2008' changed all that: they experienced the feeling of having both cars in the top four (1st and 4th) and a chance of winning the Grand Prix. Indeed, the chance worked out, and the ex-Minardi team won their first grand prix, not only in style, but at their home grand prix in the wet. The race win also put Vettel into the record books, becoming the youngest race winner at 21 years, and 73 days old, trumping Fernando Alonso's record of 22 years, 26 days at the Grand Prix of Hungary 2003.
Unfortunately, Sébastien Bourdais failed to score any points, due to his car stalling on the grid in fourth position. He was shunted to the pit-lane, and finished the race one lap adrift.
I wish Toro Rosso, and Vettel, glorious luck for future races, but cannot help thinking that perhaps his switch to 'Red Bull Racing' is a poor decision. Though 'Red Bull' should be more competitive, 'Toro Rosso' are ahead of 'Red Bull' in the Constructors' Championship after the Italian Grand Prix: Toro Rosso on 27, Red Bull on 26.
