    Greetings from Mexico! The Lord has been good to us and though at times in life we are faced with many different things, He is always faithful.
    Upon returning from our annual itinerating , we have moved to a smaller apartment in Reynosa. Lord willing, we will still be working in Nuevo Progreso but we have felt the Lord leading our steps in this direction. The Lord has already began to open the doors for us to begin holding Bible Schools for the children in several different neighborhoods here and possibly in some churches also.
    This has been a difficult year for the people along the border with several battles occurring between the drug cartels and federal police agents. But I believe the Mexican military are making a positive difference here. Although the drug cartels would like to keep the people in fear of the military.
    Right now we are in a “swine flu” lock-down. We did stay in S. TX for 3 days after rumors from both sides of the border of a possible border closing. But after hearing from our president that there would be no closing we have returned to our apt. in Mexico. As far as I know there have been 17 confirmed cases of “swine flu” in Reynosa.( 3-4 in S.TX.) All schools in MX. have been shut down for the next week along with restaurants and some businesses. Most churches are closed for the time being. There are many people wearing the face masks here. This is a very unsettling time for many– pray they will turn to God who always holds our lives in His Hands. One neighbor boy of ours ( 10 yrs.) said, “ Pray God will take away from our country the “swine flu” and everything will return to normal.” During this time, we are studying and preparing for the “VBS” programs that we plan to begin as soon as the schools and businesses begin to open again and we feel it is safe healthwise.
    It is also a very difficult time in N.Progreso as many of the tourists are not coming and they depend upon them for their living. Pray for them as they have no other means of survival.
    We would like to give a Praise Report that Luis attended one of our recent services at the church in Progreso and is planning on attending more when services resume. Also, one of our ladies Panchis– had a healthy baby boy after many complications. And we praise God for this healthy birth!
    I would like to thank my mother-in-law: Jean Arnett for sewing close to 200 cute gift bags for the kids for KIDS DAY (April30th) which we used to give toys/candy out at Templo De Santidad in Nuevo Progreso and Templo Monte Sinai in Reynosa. The kids loved them and they were a great blessing!
    Thank you SO MUCH for your faithful support and prayers– we couldn’t make it without you!!!!
    Continue to pray for the needs mentioned here and we would love to hear from you sometime.
    God Bless You!
    The Arnetts

    Hola! I hope that all is going well for you all. I wasn't sure if you had heard, but I am going to be getting married next week. It is hard to believe that the wedding is already that close and I am still thinking of people that I am not sure have heard about it or not. I am marrying Samuel Caraway on January 17th. He pastors a church in Florida, so I will be moving there. The amazing thing is that we met in Mexico, God has a wonderful way of bringing people together. Are you all still in south Texas?

    Hey Connie,
    It's almost Christams time.
    A time to give gifts,
    But I got the best gift a while back for you see.
    A gift was given to me,
    Across the distant miles;
    A package wrapped in laughter,
    And filled with joy and smiles.
    I pulled away the ribbons,
    And took the greatest care;
    When I reached into the gift,
    I found friendship waiting there.
    A friendship like no other,
    A connection from the start;
    Not one I could see, touch or feel,
    Except here in my heart.
    That gift so rare and precious,
    Of friendship tried and true;
    Touched my heart and blessed my life,
    And is what I found in you.
    Thank you for being my friend.
    Merry Christmas 2008:L
    Love,Melissa

    Hi Connie, I dont get to get on here as much as I did due to school. Im in my last year and it is very hectic. We got some wind from Ike that tore down trees and stuff. Winds were about 80 mph. Electric went out in many parts here in Ohio. Ours was out about 36hours but there are some that still dont have power. Thank you so much for your kinds words. They do mean alot to me when I hear them. I really do need prayer right now. Sorta in a whirlwind about now. And cant get out of it. The weather hear has been very cool which Im thankful for. I will try to get on here more to stay closed connected with all my bebo friends. Enjoy your day!
    Love
