New single ‘Questing, Not Coasting’ out 13th July - Preorder at our store: http://www.recordstore.co.uk/maximopark/
Over the last few weeks we’ve been playing this song live and audiences have responded in a very emotional fashion, so it makes perfect sense for it to be the next single.
I think it shows a different side to the band than The Kids Are Sick Again, which newcomers to the band may have heard on the radio. Amongst the b-sides you’ll also be able to hear That Beating Heart, which we’ve played most nights of the tour (it’s the big ballad in the encore)!
Brief but to the point !

With Quicken The Heart finally released this week, its now time for a bit of news we’ve been itching to share with you for a while now… MAXIMO PARK WILL BE OPENING GLASTONBURY THIS YEAR IN A FIRST FOR THE WORLD’S MOST FAMOUS FESTIVAL!
On Thursday 25th June at 4pm, the band will take to the stage of the brand new William’s Green area (named after Michael Eavis’ grandfather) to kick off this year’s festivities a day early. While only 1,500 people will be able to squeeze into the tent itself, the tens of thousands on site at that time will be able to see and hear the set on huge screens and speakers outside erected especially for the gig!
Maximo Park will also play The Other Stage on Saturday evening.
From Paul: “Glastonbury’s still a festival that takes chances, as proven by Jay-Z’s triumphant appearance last year, so it’s an honour for us to be the first band on, in such intimate surroundings. It’s also an excuse to hang out and watch loads of brilliant music ’til we play the Other Stage on Saturday!”
From Glastonbury: “We are really excited about this extra special Maxïmo Park gig to kick off the festival. William’s Green is brand new for 2009, what better way to introduce festival goers to the area.”
