Welcome to the all new mPOWERd 4 LIFE Girls Network where we offer weekly intensives for girls ages 12 & up teaching social manners, etiquette, and abstinence with a focus on esteem building workshops and performing arts.

Sessions focus on some of the following topics and interactions:

$ Proper make-up application
$ Modeling, style & poise
$ Table etiquette & social manners

Just be YOUnique!
Hola ladies -

Last week I watched an interview that Lil' Wayne did with Diddy talking about success. I really didn't want to watch it at first but when I considered that Lil' Wayne's album had just sold well over 1 million copies, I thought, "Let me hear what he has to say about success."

In the interview he gave this advice, "Don't try to be different because in trying to be different you end up being like everybody else. Just be yourself."

That was great advice! Do you kow why? Because everybody is trying their best to be different... everybody! Being different takes away from you being yourself. Being different gives no one and opportunity to know YOU or to experience your essence (absolutely no one).

I know that you are out for summer break and within a few weeks school will resume. If you want to be sucessful in school or at anything in life, remember to be 'YOUnique'. Like I always say, you are one of a kind special gift from God -- if you try to be different no one will know what a special gift you are.

I love you and I thank God for you!

YOU ARE NOT A BANGER!
Hey girlies!

Okay, I have to admit it... I search the web for celebrity gossip often. Yeah, I know right? That's my only vice. Strange because I don't read it to spread the gossip, I just like reading it. Strange, I know. Somehow, it keeps me in the loop because I don't listen to certain music and I do work with teens.

Anyway, today I was looking at one particular website and it compared the looks between two young ladies who grew up before the camera on TV. They are both very beautiful young ladies. I actually recall watching them on TV and seeing them grow up before the camera.

After comparing the two, one picture had on it, "She's cute" and the other had the words, "But she's a banger!"

I just sat and looked at the word banger and I thought, "Is this what it has come to? That girls are now thought of an bangers?" What does banger mean? Banger is a term that guys use for women/girls they want to have sex with. The normally say, "I want to bang her" or "She is a banger."

Young ladies, you are not a banger! Don't let anyone degrade your queendom by lowering you to the level of just being "banging" material. You are not a piece of meat! A butcher bangs a piece of meat to tenderize it. That's now what or who you are!

You are a beautiful young woman of God, created in the likeness of His image, fearfully and wonderfully made. A guy may call you beautiful, goregous, cute, pretty, etc. but you are not a banger! Don't accept words like that [negative words] spoken to you or about you no matter how cute they may sound, nor who is saying them to you.

Welcome to the Good Life...
Hey girlies!

I'm really liking that song "Good Life" by Kanye West featuring T-Pain! I listen to the clean version of course. I like the message in the song - talking about having nice things and being able to go to nice places and not have to worry about the expense.

The truth of the matter is, God wants us to experience the "good life" here on earth. He was us to have His very best. The Bible says in John 10:10 that Jesus came that we may have life and life more abundantly.

Don't you want to experience the good life? Don't you want to experience God's super abundance in your life? If you do, then let me encourage you with a new motto I adopted for myself... "If you want something you've never had before, then you must do something you've never done before!"
