UNITE!!
Me, Myself, and I
Love Music Hate Racism uses the positive power of the music scene to promote an anti-racism message. We hold monthly live music and dj events in The Grand Social , Dublin and aim to have regular monthly events up and running in Galway and Cork in 2011.

But it's not just about the music, there is a strong message behind it.Racism in all forms should not be tolerated.

We're always looking to expand the project by any means so if you have an idea or just want to get involved, register your details at www.lmhrireland.com
Get Involved
We want you to get involved. Weather you’re a musician or not, we want you to put on these events in your localities, and promote racial integration and co-operation through music. After all, our music is living testimony to the fact that cultures can and do mix. It unites us and gives us strength, and offers a vibrant celebration of our multicultural and multiracial society.
Community events
The fact is that there are elements of our society that will continue to target their anger at immigrants whether they are foreign workers, refugees, asylum seekers and even students. Love Music Hate Racism Ireland is an organization dedicated to promoting racial harmony and anti-racist behavior and education through and Music.
We aim to put on events across the country ranging from open mikes and acoustic sessions, to full bands, DJ and club nights of all tastes and genres. We even aim to incorporate art, sport and family events.

In a recent survey carried out in Ireland by Amnesty International:
78% have experienced racism. This varied widely when the different ethnic groups were compared.
36.2% have frequently heard or seen people making insulting comments about their skin colour or ethnic background.
Over 80% agree that racism is a serious problem in Ireland today.
81.5% believe that not enough is being done to educate the public about racism.
84% felt the Government was not doing enough to combat racism.
Almost 62% agree that people who commit racist acts are not likely to be brought to justice.
The overwhelming majority of incidents of racist abuse take place on the street and in other public places, such as shops and pubs.
59% think that black and ethnic minorities are treated unfairly by the authorities when arriving in Ireland.
Only 14% tended to agree that Gardaí take racist incidents seriously.

LoveMusic HateRacism is back on Saturday 12th February
at The Grand Social (formerly Pravda) Lower Liffey Street, Dublin 1.
NORTH STRAND KONTRA BAND-ZEALOTS-CHAMPAGNE ANIMAL-INDIETRONIC DJS-FEELGOODFRIDAY DJS and Guests

    ...Live Acts upstairs:
The force that is NORTH STRAND KONTRA BAND headline the night, and promise to deliver the goods. This energetic 7 piece have played LMHR gigs in the past and no better band to do so as they draw their influences from the East of Europa. Some call is Klezmer, some call it Gypsie...but we like to call it damb good dacing tunes!

Support comes from ZEALOTS and the haunting vocals of Ruth Kennington (also of The Candidates) who are no strangers to the LoveMusic HateRacism campaign.Check out their Myspace here http://www.myspace.com/zealotsmusic

They supported Fight Like Apes on NYE,and came 2nd out of 160 acts in The King Kong Club.CHAMPAGNE ANIMAL open up the celbrations and you can get a taste of the promising newcomers here on Breakingtunes. http://breakingtunes.com/champagneanimal

...and after that, on both Ground and First floors respectively...

IndieTronic Djs ( Mr Eamon Barret & Guests ) and FeelGoodFriday Djs ( Mr Martin Ansbro & Guests ) will be pumping out the tunes on both floors and of course will deliver the goods...that's if NSKB havn't worn you out.

As many will know,LMHR does not charge into their events but prefer to 'suggest' a donation as they like to look after the bands costs as well as their own.So if you can afford it, do throw it into the kitty.

And of course, the LMHR crew will be there on the night to tell you who they are, what they're about and what the plans are for 2011.

LMHR want to thank State.ie , Music Maker & The Grand Social for their support in all things LMHR

Love Music Hate Racism Sunday Session
    on Sunday 22nd Nov
    Doors 8-30pm
    Adm €5
    Live Music from 3 acts

    Radical Picnic
    http://www.myspace.com/radicalpicnic

Whet you appetite as Radical Picnic deliver a veritable feast that will nourish the consciousness as well as the heart & soul! Sumptuously sandwiched between pulsating bass lines, searing guitar lines and thunderous rhythms comes an internationalist battle cry for the new era of counter culture.

Combining originally penned stellar tunes mightier than any sword with the occasional peppering of defiant classics served up for the modern world, RADICAL PICNIC, a musical collective formed in 2008, are determined to put the soul back in to Rock’n’Roll.

    Joyce and The Sonic Gypsies
    http://www.myspace.com/mickjoyce

Following a string of inventive and original albums released by Joyce since 2000, such as “Mono 2 - Songs for Voice and Guitars of Various Persuasions”, the plan for the fifth album was to have a strong percussive vibe running through... A vibe, allied to a tension/connection between the east and west....

In 2007, as the new album The Bosphorus was being recorded, part of the wider project (Flesh and Blood) of cross cultural interconnectivity with - in Joyce's words - “our eastern brothers/sisters”, Joyce & Sonic Gypsies, a 10 piece band, focused on live performances here and abroad including performances in Vicar St and Whelan’s.

A unique and inspiring experience listening to the Western / Middle-Eastern rhythmic collaboration … While the philosophy of the songs is truly “Western” they get their soul and energy from the unmistakable and very distinctive Eastern & Southern rhythms…Is there such a thing? Come along, listen and decide!!!

    Dermot Kennedy
    http://www.myspace.com/dermotkennedy

Dermot Kennedy is an 18 year-old singer/songwriter from Dublin. He's been playing the guitar to accompany his singing since he was 13. A couple of years ago, as he became more serious about music, he moved away from covering other artists and began to write his own music.

His main influences include Glen Hansard, David Gray and American band Bon Iver to name a few. He recently started a pure-music degree out in NUI Maynooth. Despite his young age, he has plenty of experience gigging in Dublin, in venues such as The Button Factory, Eamonn Doran's and loves heading down to The Bankers Inn on Trinity St. for the acoustic nights on a Tuesday.
He hopes to keep gigging as much as he can, building up a profile and hopes his music can take him somewhere good...
