EPC EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP REPORT
I'm very happy to report that Ireland had great success at this years EPC European championships held in Germany. We had a very strong 5 man team that travelled to Forchheim, with all lifters making into the medals it was the best team spirit i have seen in years with all lifters making a big effort to help out each other. We also had to great supports Ruairi's dad & Nero's girl friend which were a great help in keeping track of the score board & given there full support behind all the team.

First lifter up on the platform on Thursday was 67.5kg class Winner 1st place Ruairi MC Cann Body weight 65.3kg Squat 222.5kg Bench 125kg, Dead lift 210kg Total 557.5kg. Also setting 4 new Irish, European & World records & went o0n to win best overall junior lifter.

On Friday first lifter up in the 82.5kg class Winner was 1st place Pat Mc Marmara Body weight was 81.7kg Squat 320kg Bench 185kg Dead lift 270kg total 775kg & also setting 4 new Irish records,

Also lifting on Friday in the 90kg class in 2nd place was Shane Brodie Body weight 87.1kg Squat 325kg Bench 175kg Dead lift 270kg Total 770kg, A great result after been off injured for 2 years.

On sat morning in the Bench press only section 90kg class Winner in 1st place Pat MC Marmara Bench 187.5kg with the biggest class in the bench press section did really well to beet all 3 German's.

Also lifting on Sat in the 110 kg Winner in 1st place Eric Jess, Body weight 105kg Squat 280kg Bench 210kg Dead lift 280kg Total 770kg, Sum great lifting after getting injured on his second squat after the bar was over loaded by 50kg.

Last of the Irish lifters up on Sat was 125kg class Winner 1st place Merijus Cekas. Body weight 119kg Squat 390kg Bench 245kg Dead lift 340kg Total 975kg. Sadly he just missed out on wining the overall lifter by 2 points but still has allot more to come.

Well i hope we will have the biggest team we ever had travelling to the World championships in Austria in November????

News letter 7th april
Hello all

First of all i would like to say thank you to the promoter Tony MC Caffery of Galway city gym for holding the national championships. Also like to thank Marnus of USN supplements for hes sponsorship and prizes and all who lifted and all who turned out to give there support on Sunday at the nationals. We had a great turn out with a total of 20 lifters still a good number considering there was a number of lifters not available to lift due to injury including myself.
The standard of lifting was very high as usual with Bernard Delaney been number 1 again. There was many national records broke and also a few World records as well. I will have all records up dated by the end of next weekend and i will also get the IPO website up to date also.

It was great to see so many national and enter national referees available for first time in ages. I would like to specially thank the following referees for the great job they did. ( IPO - GPC & WPF Inter national ref Tommy Dillon ) (IPO National GPC & IPF Inter national ref Ger Mc Marmara ) ( IPO & IPF National GPC Inter national Jimmy Clancy) ( IPO IPF & GPG National Ben Hartygin ) (GPC & IPF National & WPF Inter national Shane Brodie )

We cant forget to thank the loaders and spotters for a super job they done im sure if the warnt as good as they were there be a lot more of you injured today so well done you guys you did a great job.

I have also updated the IPO bebo page with pictures and results from the nationals. you can access this by wwww.bebo.com and the type in on the search IPO POWERLIFTING and it will bring up or page or click on
http://www.bebo.com/ipo-fanpage and make sure you become a member or a fan.

I hope to meet you all soon and if not i wish you all the best with your training and take care.

Jesus.... that'd be savage going Shane.

Do you notice much strength loss with this?? I'm 103kg at the moment. Started dieting today. Hopefully get to 96kg and cut the rest in water to 90 if all goes to plan!!

I'm hoping I don't lose and strength.

James Hanley
Haha thank god... There's still hope for us mere mortals yet. Even at 98kg that's still a savage total!!

Are you going back to 82.5kg for the world champs? (or are ya gonna like in July too??)
James Hanley
Hey Shane, did I read that right... You did 250/175/255 @ 82.5?? That's frickin awesome!!

I'm looking forward to the comp in Limerick, should be a blast.

This year the IPO will have 5 lifters travelling to the EPC European Championships in Forchheim, Germany which will be held from 25th – 29th of June. It is a very strong team and they all hope to be bringing home medals. They are lifting in some of the most competitive weight classes but they are well able for it, and I'm sure they will be successful

The team will made up of the following lifters 67.5kg class Ruairi MC Cann, 82.5kg class Shane Brodie, 90kg Pat Mc Namara, 110 kg class Eric Jess, 125kg class Merijus Cekas.

Lets all get behind them and send them our best wishes.

BEST OF LUCK LADS
