So I'm getting to know the new Bebo. What do you think? It's ok but not cool, it shows a distinct lack of creativity with no original thought whatsoever, possibly one of the least original "new" things I've ever seen.

The Lifestory (in timeline) feature is a blatant copy of the ingenuity of the developers at Plurk.

The widgets originate from somewhere else too, though I don't know for sure if it was MySpace or Yahoo, at least they are 'ajaxified' which is to say "drag and drop" enabled, which was developed by Apple and is used throughout the Mac and now on many websites, reflective buttons and banners were developed by Apple as well for the iPhone and now seen everywhere. To be fair, widgets are used on MySpace and Facebook a lot too, not to mention the much criticised creation from the Redmond copy machine (Windows Vista).

Top friends... comes from MySpace, copied by Facebook, and is that new to Bebo?! I'm not here enough to remember!

I dislike the white background. MySpace is the clear leader in social network customisation (though it is so annoying!). Bebo follow the example of MySpace but allowing less customised module backgrounds but with no control over the positioning, but I find these clash with the main background, which like Facebook, is the same on every page.

Bebo also allows auto-playing media on profiles by default, which is annoying if I don't want audio or video playing. It is not good and can cause a 'slowdown' on peoples internet connection.

So that's my review, it won't get many more users but is growing at the expense of MySpace which IMHO is actually better despite the annoying feature. So I'll Ping it across my networks and see if anyone has a comment. You can even comment here... if you're a registered user (bloggers humour)!
