Hey Y’all,
It’s 2009 (yay ) and it’s going to be a great year! Hope everyone’s made their resolutions? Let’s hear them! Get them posted!
Lots happening in the first couple of months @ Hyzone! Look no further:
• Taster Sessions: This is a great opportunity for you all to come along and try something new and different! First up on 18th January is an Introduction to... ASTRONOMY  You must have guessed – just take a closer look @ our new Bebo skin  The taster sessions will last for 1 hour and will be happening once in every 4 Sundays. 6pm-7pm @ Hamilton UC, just come along and join in. Any suggestions just leave a comment, we were thinking of stuff like Yoga? Carpet Bowls? Body Art? Keepie Uppies? Oh and look out for the change of skin the week before for a BIG hint 

• Burns Resurrection: Ever heard of Rabbie Burns? Ever tried eating a Haggis? If yes, or no, it doesn’t matter cos it all fun and games! This is going to be one amazing party with some Scottish history! Lots of Scottish dancing mixed in with some cool new modern stuff. Some great Scottish artists too! Thursday 22nd January (5.30pm – 11.30pm) Yip, it’s going to be a late night  Limited places though so get your names in asap!

• Song Writing: It’s back – a bit like Terminator! Fridays 4pm-6pm – Hamilton UC. It’s going to be great, loads of noise and maybe even some music? Or is that just the same thing these days? Who knows? Got a musical talent? Or maybe just an interest in music? Think you could help write some ‘funky-cool’ songs? (not my words... )... Then get along to the workshops! Oh yeah – check out the NEW song that the group wrote already called: THE WALL. Pretty cool eh? Well done guys 

• Residential: Yeah, we’re finally going to have a RESIDENTIAL (woop woop ) If you’re a bit like us @ Hyzone, they you will be just as excited as we are! Although, we do have a bit of a problem... what are we going to do @ it???? Get your suggestions in! Fancy trying canoeing? Maybe Archery? Or just some team games? Check out the poll (coming soon). It’s planned for mid-February so we have a bit of time to think about it so either post your ideas on here or drop by the office or drop-in to our ‘drop-in’ on a Sunday evening! 

Hello folks! How’s it going? Good I hope. First off – thanks to all of you who got involved with stuff over the summer – we had a great time, and hope you did too. Check out the photos of some of the stuff we got up to!

Summer is now a distant memory – so we are looking to the future! There is some stuff in the pipeline for Hyzone that we really need your input on – after all, Hyzone is for you guys, and we want to go with what you want, not what we want!

There has been a lot of interest in opening on a Sunday from 6-9 instead of 7-9. We have decided to go with this since it what you guys want, and all our volunteers are OK with it. SO, starting on the 21st September we will open from 6pm rather than 7pm!

We have some plans afoot for the 6-7pm slot on Sunday evenings. We were thinking that one Sunday a month we would do some kind of issue based event. But to do this, we’d need to know what stuff you guys are interested in looking at! It wouldn’t be boring workshops – interactive stuff, hopefully get you thinking and be worthwhile. Even hoping to get some of you involved in running them.

So what we need is suggestions for workshops – what are you interested in, what would you like to find out more about? Some suggestions – drugs/alcohol, sexual health, LGBT issues, human rights, faith/religions etc etc. The list is endless, and above all we want YOUR suggestions, so get in touch.

We are also hoping on one Sunday a month in the 6-7 slot to do an ‘Introduction to…’ session. This could be anything you guys are interested in…’Introduction to DJing’, ‘Introduction to woodwork’, ‘Introduction to street dance’…again, the list is endless, so anything you are interested in, give us a shout about it and we’ll see if we can put it on! Think you’ve got a skill to offer? Want to teach others how to screw back a cue ball in pool? Think you can improve someone’s Guitar Hero or Pro Ev scores? Why not give it a shot - if you’d like to run an ‘Introduction to…’ session, please tell us! We’ll be able to support you in that and it’d be great to have you guys sharing your skills with each other!

Movie nights – would you be up for watching a movie, then having a chat about any issues raised in it? If so then we want to hear from you, with suggestions of movies to watch! We’re thinking of doing this once a month too, so if you’d be interested, let us know and we’ll get it started.

Song-writing – after the good few sessions we had over the summer there will be more song-writing workshops, with some input from other song-writers! Watch this space for more information on when this will kick off again.

Trips – after the success of the Stadium Tours, we’re up for doing more trips! Any suggestions? We have some, but we’d like to hear from you!

Murder Mystery Afternoons

Following on from the success of the Spring Break ‘Death By Chocolate’, we’ll be having two murder mysteries this summer. The first one will be Wednesday 9th July – ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’! The second will be on Monday 11th August, both starting at 1pm.

Song Writing Workshops

Fancy trying your hand at song-writing? Come along on Tuesday afternoons from 1-3pm and have a go. No previous experience necessary!

Football Stadium Tours

On Friday 8th August we’ll be taking a marathon trek round 3 of Scotland’s finest football stadiums. We’ll have tours of Ibrox, Parkhead and Hampden, all in one day, and all for a fiver! £1 deposit confirms your place. Only 10 places available, so book fast!
