For the first time, An Garda Síochána are communicating with young people via the web.

The How Big Do You Feel? campaign highlights the dangers of knife crime and one of our many aims is to encourage young people to reach their full potential.

The last few months have been busy. We have given talks in all areas of the country with the help of some well known sports stars and radio djs. Have we visited your school? What did you think?
The Law
It is illegal to carry any knife in a public place that is not work (e.g. carpentry) or recreation (e.g. fishing) related. If found with a knife in a public place, a Garda will confiscate the knife and you will be charged with the possession of an offensive weapon. This could lead to a fine and/or imprisonment.

  • Elevate Digital Hub FM

    Digital Hub FM in Dublin 8 gives people of all ages the chance to be trained in all aspects of radio - from the production end to the live, on air, side.

    The radio station grants it's members the experience to partake in their weekly Friday night show that runs from 8pm-12pm on FM94.3

    Elevate are always welcoming new members and it is particularly a good opportunity for young people in Dublin's inner city area to develop their interests in radio.

  • Noise South Dublin - Real False Memory

    Real False Memory is a project for groups of three to take part in. it looks at how one - or a series or images, things or places - can have varying perspectives from a number of different people's altering outlooks....not as difficult as it sounds.

    It is a fun way to profile one of your favourite places with your friends, using photography, audio and film in a way that can encapsulate differing overviews on a similar focus.

  • Teen Irish Actress Wins Film Award

    Congratulations to 15 year old Saoirse Ronan who has won the Youth in Film award at the Las Vegas Film Critics Society's annual Sierra Awards.

    She was honoured for her role in Peter Jackson's new film "The Lovely Bones' which is to be released in Irish cinemas at the end of January.

    The teen star is also nominated in the Best Actress and Best Young Actress categories at the Critics' Choice Movie Awards in the US.
