- Based in Edinburgh, Houghmagandie are a four-piece, vocally-led folk group, providing a unique blend of music and mayhem, whatever the venue, from Geordie's Byre to Carnegie Hall.
Houghmagandie are fast becoming established as major players in the Scots folk scene, playing at the World Famous Edinburgh Military Tattoo and at Rockness in 2007. They are also regulars in the Mishnish during the Mull festival. Their credentials in Europe are keeping pace, having played the Max Schmelling Halle in Berlin and the Modena International Music Festival in Italy.
Pub engagements still play a major part in spreading the word, though, and in Edinburgh, Houghmagandie have a Sunday residency at Dropkick Murphys on Merchant Street. They still skulk around the Scotsman's Lounge and the Hebrides Bar and are regulars at Hootananys in Inverness and are looking for a date in the Brixton branch.
Houghmagandie are Cammy Goodall, Dougie "Twix" Twycross, Dougie "Spaniel" Anderson and Big Baz Young.

Mull Festival 2008
Ridiculous to believe it's already two weeks since we returned from the greatest wee festival in the world. We huvnae stopped since we got back, playing with one line-up or another in Stenhousemuir, Inverness, Glasgow, Belfast, Bangor and Edinburgh. Finally got time to draw breath and thank Robert and all at the Mish for their excellent hospitality once more.
To the Raggaels, thanks for the gear, the craic and the expertise. Viking, you truly are a legend - how's yer back?; To Archie McAllister and the Cearnloch Ceilidh Band (is that right, Alec?) thanks for leaving us a couple of rolls in the morning! Don't worry about July, Archie, I'll sort something out - "Beetlejuice, yer up!"; To Shananifanny, what can I say? You guys light up my life and the festival wouldn't be the same without your ear-bleedy drum machine din; To Fergie, some box, boy, loved the sounds; To Iain Joseph & Marie, where the hell were you?; To Russel, sorry we never got a tune; and finally To Skerryvore, thanks for the interest, guys, and for putting up wi' pished nutters in yer digs. Hope to catch up wi you on the road before another year's out, maybe up at Hoots?
Robert, thanks a million. Hope to get across for a wee gig before next years festival. See you all there.
