We would like to thank everyone who turned up to support us on Friday night for the Fundraiser for Amy. Especially all our family and friends who have been there for us throughout this whole nightmare. We would also like to say a huge thank you to Dave Young and Dave Morrisson from pro Dj's who both donated their time to the Fundraiser. Also the Hilton Hotel who gave us the room to use free of charge. It was a great night and we thank you all for your support

The mother of missing teenager Amy Fitzpatrick said several false sightings of Amy in Spain were caused by a girl who closely resembles her.

Audrey Fitzpatrick told the Herald that the girl drew so much attention during the search for Amy that she was brought to a police station in Spain to formally rule her out of the investigation.

Amy was 15 when she vanished while walking home from a friend's house in the Costa del Sol, on the night of January 1 last year. She moved to Spain from Clarehall, Dublin, with her family four years ago.

In recent days, builder George O'Neill, who lives in Spain, went public with claims that he had seen a girl resembling Amy at a filling station cafe in the town of Coin, a few days after her disappearance. Mr O'Neill said Spanish police never told him if his reported sighting had been investigated.

But Audrey now believes that the girl seen by Mr O'Neill was probably a 'lookalike' who actually lives in the town of Coin, about 15 miles from Calahonda where Amy lived.

"He told police he recognised Amy from a tracksuit she was wearing in a photograph and from her eyes. But Amy wasn't wearing that tracksuit when she disappeared," said Audrey.

"Amy's eyes were the most striking feature about her. She had striking blue eyes. She could change her hair colour or her weight, but she would never be able to change those eyes."

During the intensive search for Amy, Audrey made several public appeals for help. A number of people reported seeing a girl resembling Amy in the area of Coin. Police finally located a girl and she and her parents were brought to a police station. She had to produce a passport to prove she was not Amy. The girl was English and had a similar build and complexion to Amy.

Said Audrey: "We actually saw the girl ourselves at the police station. She was leaving the police station with her parents when we were arriving.

"I turned to my son Dean and we both looked at her. She undoubtedly looked like her but we both agreed that she certainly did not have the same eyes as Amy. The Spanish police have been very helpful to us and have been careful not to raise our hopes unnecessarily. I know they have checked out many such sightings."

.A top funnyman is pulling out all the stops to help find Amy FItzpatrick.
Dublin comic Dave Young said that he wqas approached by the charity for missing British tot Madeleine Mccann- but refused to gig believing there is "nothing" he could do to help.
But when it comes to Amy, who hasnt been seen for nearly a year and a half Dave thinks "PLENTY" can be done.
The jester said " When i was asked to do a show for Madeleine I knew her family had been fetured extensively in the globa media." But sadly Amy's family have not had the same exposure.
" I didn't feel my show would help any further to find Madeleine, whereas I believe Amy could still well be alive.
The gig will take place at the Airport HIlton Hotel in Clare Hall Dublin on June 19th.
