Simon Patterson the DJ.... is one of the hottest properties in dance music right now. His creative offerings as a producer have captured audiences, bringing them willing with him along his musical adventure. From techy moods to edgey riffs, spin tingling melodies to driving basslines, Simon’s studio offspring’s of the past 12 months have raised his profile to see him become a much in-demand dj, producer and remixer.



Signed exclusively to the hugely respected Spinnin’ Records, Simon’s music has earned him massive support from industry leaders such as Paul van Dyk, Tiesto, Armin van Burren, Ferry Corsten, Judge Jules and Above & Beyond. With tracks such as F:1 (Nov 2006), Panic Attack / Strip Search (Apr 2007), Bulldozer / We’ll See (Sept 2007), attaining almost cult statues, coupled with widespread acclaim from the dance media.



However, it’s when he’s behind the decks that the sound of Simon comes alive. With a style described as cutting edge, dark, driving, pulsating, Simon’s technical ability is a finely tuned art that fuses trance with elements of techno and electronica. If you’re stood on a dance floor when Patterson’s behind the CDJ’s you know who’s in control, and the only thing you’re likely to do is to dance and dance hard.



Moving from Belfast to London some 10 years ago his career has been punctuated with a wealth of experience in dance music. From working alongside Dave Lambert at top Universal dance label AM M, which led to him being approached by head A&R man Nick Halkes to work with him on his new Ministry Of Sound label – Incentive Records, he then went on to being the driving force in the engine rooms of two of the biggest shows on Radio 1, he utilised his finely tuned ear working as the tastemaker behind Seb Fontaine and Judge Jules’ peak-time Saturday nighters.



Labelled by Mixmag in 2004 as ‘One to Watch for the future’, Simon has since drawn on this knowledge, and with an unparallel passion for music, he has now thrust himself firmly at the forefront of the trance elite, and is firmly forging his own career as a prolific artist within his field.



In the past five years Simon has really clocked up the air miles, rocking some of the biggest parties on offer. His highlights are vast, and too lengthy to list, but here are a few. In Rotterdam, crowds of up to 500,000 witnessed the might of Simon Patterson, revellers that flock to the sun drenched dance Mecca that is Ibiza have experience his sound year in, year out, a huge tour of the far-east and an indoor festival in Russia where he gave 20,000 Muscovites a musical masterclass.

Thanks for taking some time out to answer a few quick questions as the hype begins ahead of your album Tour-Mega!!!

First off you touch down in Ireland on the 10 TH October for a special gig that's sure to live long in the memory,Its a fancy dress

party with Special guest Bk and new kid on the Block Joe-E so its sure to be "Mega" !!!



How long has it taking to put this master piece together ???

I started the album early 2008 when the last album ‘Bass Junkie’ was released, although I didn’t intend to do another album so soon, it just kinda happened like that, in the end I had over 20 tracks & just streamlined them to the ones I thought would best suit the album



Did you work with any other producers on this Album???Is there any producers out there that you would like to work with in the future ???

No this album is solely myself which is something I really wanted to do, I wanted the album to recognise where I am right now as an artist. There are some very cool producers out there at the moment, I like Vandal though, that would be an interesting colaberation



What other producers tunes find there way into your sets ???

Vandal, Kamui, A.S.Y.S, BK, Organ Donors, some Alex Kidd & Kidd Kaos stuff in there, Scott Project, I love the European sound of hard Trance with a twisted tech edge to it





@Recent festivals here in Ireland the Harder-Tents seemed to of attracted the bigger numbers ,How do you see the Hard-Dance Scene at the moment ???

Its growing for sure, people are trying different things in their productions so its very interesting, it’s a good time to be involved with hard dance music





Sledge Hammer

has the potential to be the Hard Dance Anthem for 2009 according to a lot of Irish jocks,Our own favorite track off the album has to be "More Power" ...Which tracks do you find do the most damage on the dance floor ? !!!Obviously you have 1 or 2 favorites off the album but which tune stands out for you and why ???

I like all the tracks on the album for different reasons, ‘Sledgehammer’ defiantly has something about it, as soon as I took it from the studio I knew it had the potential to be a special track. I also love ‘Hot Stuff’ because its so different, ‘Mega’ too gets a great response as does ‘Twister’ & ‘Massive’, you know, I really cant choose….lol.





The last time you played for us in Ireland it was in the intimate setting off The Zoo(The gig rocked of course )...Which gigs do you prefer to play,the smaller clubs or the larger gigs where you might be a bit away from the crowd and find it harder to interact ????

I like both for different reasons, crowds are right with you on smaller events & get lost in the moment & music, but the big events are more of a show performance with the big stage & stuff, I tend to play slightly different sets at both too





How do you find the Irish crowds towards other places you play ???

I love playing Ireland, the crowds always rock & I look forward to coming





As mentioned earlier the event on the 10 Th is fancy dress party sure its sure to be full of madness,Thankfully you have agreed to judge best dressed,Are you nervous about what to expect and will you be dressing up ???You could always dress up as a dj

Haha, I cant quite pull off fancy dress but we’ll see – I wanna see some crazy outfits, the more out there the better



You play a huge part at "Riot" where the last event was a huge success selling out the impressive Matter @ the o2.Whats planned for the rest of the year ???

We are doing Matter again in November & are looking at a special Christmas party too but that’s all I can say on that at the moment. Watch this space.
